Me and silas ray was runnin yesterday and was talking about some of the great casts we hade seen in Russell springs and around that area. ask ole silas about the dog stray dog that came into the cast and scored every point!

Was on a cast with Don McCutchen, I was running Half Track can not remember the other dogs in the cast, all 5 hounds got on a great running rabbit and was blistering its hind-end, after about 30-40 minutes of running the Judge walked out and left dogs a hammering, Judge tells us that no need to try and judge because a little 1/2 beagles looking stray or pet had came into the cast and had scored EVERY check there had been     I thought Don was going to pass out, he told the Judge to Please find out who owned that dog cause he was going to buy it :D :D :D

I judged ol Halftrack in moultan alabama at the grand nationals back in 90 something. That was a nice cast of dogs just a bad draw for me it was all the big wheels in arha in it. I had been warned to keep a eye out for Rattlers  . I let the dogs loose and seen one of the biggest buck deers i ever seen to date. I marched the pack right towards it. I figured it would be a easy class to judge and they would be done. I walked them all over that buck and not one of them ever wagged a tail, i remember Halftrack looked up at me as to say"Homie dont play that".
Later that cast i seen the biggest Rattler i ever saw in my life had to be as big around as my arm  . I never seen don walk so fast when i showed it too him. Ron Simmons won the champions that year with Simmons daisey.

Half Track was one of my favorites, I started taking him out to an old Cemetery a night when he wasn't more then 7-8 weeks old and I would bright light a rabbit, carry him right up to it and set him down on it, wasn't to awful long he was getting on with the program.
Only deer problems I had in the Red Dogs was with Ellison Ridge Redman, up till he was about 5 years old he would leave a rabbit to run one, then all of a sudden one day he just decided he didn't like them and best of my knowledge never ran one again.

Since u mentioned red man I have a Q....does anyone no of another case of brucellosis....everyone including me makes it clear that they won't breed a female without a test....I missed out on several breeding this summer on Jericho and switch because folks couldn't get there brucellosis test in time because the state had made it to where there are no more same day test....just curious....I was very young when it broke out at dons place but I've never heard of another incident....I only know about it cause Paul abell (my uncle) and don were pretty tight

Hey matt when burooooo broke out at dons house i guess he put down virtually all dogs he had which were several hound.
I remember when it happened then arha made it mandatory to get all dogs ckd to compete, not sure when they quit.
You got a good job and like everyone else breeding dogs aint much more than a pain in the azz.I also wonder though if i got a bitch i want bred, i take her to the vet . How long i wonder does to take to get it back? Also it seems like anyone thinking of breeding one would be able to catch her early enuff in the cycle to still have plenty of time to bred. My vet in montgomery county was telling me a few weeks ago that now the big outbreak has been distemper and heartworms. Now thats in montgomery and powell county but distemper is getting bad he said. Funny thing is he told me of this while his wife groomed our shitz su and charged me 60 bucks. :???: . Man times are a changing. But she does look kinda cute with her pink bows.

Heck my fiancé owns her own grooming business, she'll do your shitz su for $35.00 that includes nails and a bath. I bet she'll do it cheaper if I put in a good word for you.

The reason I missed the breedings is because the guys wanting to breed thought they could still get the same day test and they messed around and waited til the day they wanted to breed an found out that it wasn't available anymore....I just never heard of brucellosis in another case Has anyone elae

You said, "Them kinda hounds just aint made every day." I would love to just own one. Casey, that is in Ohio now and came from Bobby Vest, could grab a big running rabbit and come back so far ahead the pack sometimes did not know where she was but she never ran back through them. I would really loved to have been there even if he wasn't mine. Man I love to watch a great dog run a rabbit. Bobby (ROWCO)

Say,, You Little pack Boys woldn't remember me,, as I wasn't into the Little Pack,, never make but one L.P.Fld.Ch. Daddy Rabbit's Cry Baby.

When Mr.George Blaine, from Oak Grove, la.came out with the Progressive Pack,, they was For me,, Mr.George at one time owned that Ol Rebal Yell, L.P. hound.

You spoke of Gerald Bailey,, He bought the ARHA. from Mr.Everett Morgan and move it Here in Royston,Ga. that is where I was born and raised here in Ty Cobb's Home Town.. Yep ol Gerald was a piece of work,, He could tell some lies, and didn't last long with the ARHA, so he sold it to the NKC, and he is back In Ky.

Well, I enjoyed the Stories, of Ol Times,, I enjoyed the ARHA and did rather well in the P.P. at 75 I am still breeding and running my hounds,, never could stay Up with the L.P. hounds, they were to much Dog for me..

Daddy Rabbit you were the talk back in my day, in kentucky we just never really had any pp hounds. All of ours swung, cut ,cheated packmates.Wanted to drive hard.Pretty much what akc hated the arha made a fortune off of.
Each his own i say let it be. Hey Rowco hate to hear Casey got away from ya that bitch could drag dogs on a runner.I rasied her and somehow let bobby get her, she is one of the best bred bitches around for that line. Ol eddie o knows a dog and still does.He was the breeder of Casey. I loved that bitch.Daddy rabbit your right bailey about ruined a good thing, he also about found out what a kentucky boy could do when he had that cage rattled. Anyway take care to all and run em till they melt.
