Boys, this is a great story and I enjoyed reading about it. I would like to see some more guys tell some of their stories on here. It would make great reading. Bobby

Those hounds had to be run hard or they went nutty in the pen. I hunted with Mikie, Crazy, Pretty Lady and Pop Fannie many times, what a powerful team of hounds.
I got one old bitch left from double Mikie X on my old SR Casey male, she got the old "cry mouth" of my Pop Fannie bitch.
I readily admit, there weren't hardly enough hours in the day to keep those hounds satisfied on rabbit...

Jimmy and Jackson were a great team, both high energy w/ lots of desire... ;)

Nothing like a giggle at 7am. Your right crabby, he was a heck of a dog. Somebody mentioned size. Probaly 14.5 maybe..I seen him actually lap a dog once in Indiana while david and scott surber judged it. We laughed till we cried.

I could write a book about some of the road trips I have been a part of over the years. Sometimes I wonder how I made it this far.

I remember the redneck nationals back around 2006 in Indiana. There was enough aluminum destroyed that day to scrap and buy a new truck. Things I remember the most: a lot of new friends made, got to see some great dogs run, and Jimmie Abshire trying to drink with the late great Wayne Waits and ending up passed out in the fetal position only to briefly wake up when Brian Passmore dug through his pockets for his room keys lol

A great memory of Wayne Waits, a lot of those guys there didn't know who he was but I quickly told him he was winnin world hunts when they didn't know what a beagle was.

Yea Jackson was out of Codys Sharp Mikie and Switcher Hill Dottie Dee. Dee was out of Crains HH Brownie. I used to run a lot down that way when the club was run by Johnny Miller and cant remember names anymore. Linton Cress used to own Cruise Control , ya know back then there was some really good hounds. Grade or not.
The club house was right beside Don Mccuthins lumber store. Just to jog ur memory Remember Roho York? That seems so long ago but there where some epic battles took place down in that country.

I haven't been on the board forever but I sure do remember Jackson. Jackson was a beautiful hound also. I ran Jackson some in the day and I ran with him a lot and he was hard to beat. I also remember the time Jimmy and I went to Indiana for 2 days to run dogs and between the 2 of us we drank 120 beers and the best I can remember those were the days.

I really enjoy you guys reminiscing about the good old days and dogs. Since I busted my knee, memories are about half of my beagling. Johnny and I still have some real pleasure hounds and listen to a lot of good running. I just can't get on them like I would like to in order to see not just hear. Still it beats any other sport I ever tried. Besides, The one thing I cannot identify with is the drinking you guys enjoy and remember. Don't get nervous - I am not getting ready to preach; I have too many faults of my own to cast stones at anyone else. Well, anyway, keep telling these stories. Those old dogs are getting better every day. I REALLY LIKE THE ONE ABOUT THE DOG LAPPING THE OTHER DOG. I JUST KEEP WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE RABBIT PASSED THE OTHER DOG? BOBBY (ROWCO)

Bobby dont tell all ya know. . Bobby in coal country the running used to be pretty unreal . Much better than they have now. Jackson had a tendancy to drift off from a pack in a cast, he scored alot of jumps cuz judges knew him and knew to watch for it. He probaly drifted 50 yards out and jumped a rabbit and the race was on. The judges screaming get the dogs up here. . Thats a great filling in indiana to be on the right side sometimes, anyways the time the dogs wandered to the jump area jackson was already bringing it back in a circle. The pack tore out on his jump spot and jackson was bringing it around behind em. Cover as we all know in indiana can be very thick and dogs at times cant hear packmates if there not held up by the handlers. Anyway the rabbit sure enuff circles with jackson on his heels and runs right thru the pack he runs the pack is now in hot pursuit, jackson runs the pack down , goes thru em and leads them again. At that time he had scored a Jump and 5 cks before any dog was in the race with him. He won the cast by 7 cks. He was by far the smartest competetion hound i ever rasied. If my memory serves me right he won the indiana states and little world probaly 5 times.
Them kinda hounds just aint made every day.Take Care. Abshire.
