Pro-Pen-G??

Pro-Pen-G injection....Penicillin G Procaine Injectable Suspension...
For Intramuscular use only
1cc per 100 lbs so a 20lb beagle should get a dosage of 1/10th of 1 cc per 10 lbs..
20 lb beagle gets a 2/10ths cc injected in the muscle.
i have a beagle here that has a bite from another male...didnt notice it right away and he started to act funny....noticed the bite marks on ear and ear was hanging lowere than usual on head....cleaned him up put teramyacin on puncture wounds...cleaned inside of ear out...and found swelling in skin below ear.
started the pennicillin last night..hope it works out...he doesnt seem like himself and hasnt pooped since i brought him in day before yesterday.He is drinking water and eating....has no interest in going outside.....probably due to it being minus 10 degrees...has always been outside...

ok... 12/20/04----4:00p.m.~~~~update...took him out side..pooped...
has wool moving blanket folded up nice and thick...put heating pad under a few layers of blanket and he is in the coal stove room which is the middle room of the house...

UPDATE...
took my boy to the vet..
i didnt like the way he was acting..
he doesnt drink much water and yet he drank 2 full bowls so I knew things were not getting better....
a 1 hr ride to the vet and when we got to the exit he thought we were going hunting or something because he got anxiuos....
vet put him on some antibiotics..cant remember the name...
i think the Penicillin was doing more harm, than good.....
i feel much better now and my vet only charged me for the meds...

Hi Joe,
You weren't giving enough pen-g to do any good. We give a full cc per 10/lb. for 10 days. Do what makes you feel best ...Patch

I had gotten the pro-pen-g from a dairy farmer..i was going by what he said the dosage was and adjusting by weight...either way..I am glad i took him to the vet for the other meds...dog just looked awful all day yesterday...
