Harry, there is not a judge in the world that could follow a good pack of hounds on cottontail let alone hare and stay with them the whole time. That is why we need to cut them off and get in front of the rabbit, like we are hunting...it's like comparing baseball to whiffleball

LOL no I do not. Here's an example of how I judge my hounds.

That is a marked line, but I wasn't fast enough to video the rabbit

2nd that!

I also don't think you need a marked line to score every point. In a perfect world, yes it would be great but seriously it is a hard thing to do in the north east with the cover during trial season.

I disagree deerhost yes its tuff to see when cover is on but u may have to work harder to get in front of the pack i guarantee it can be done!! So I will keep doing what I do and that's getting the mark line and scoring dogs and putting the win on the best dog for that day!!!! I can't believe u can say that u don't need a mark line.to.score every pt its bizarre to me!!! Check out another judges seminar!!!

LOL!! All I'm saying is I don't think you need to cut off the dogs if you can follow them and keep up. I know you know how to judge...I wouldn't hesitate to run under ya. (or gun with ya)

Maybe its a good thing that I don't judge. I'll leave that up to you guys. I could argue diffrently but I don't have the energy or the time to stay on here and type. I'm going to go out and run dogs. I will say that I wouldn't mind running under someone who judges that way but I can't see it always being practical.......... Later...DH

Best kind Andy ya just not gonna change my mind even if the dogs are slow enough to walk with that u still don't need to see the mark line to give positive or negative score!!! Fasttrackpa thank you for the video.Looks like a good fast pack of hound to gun hunt over.I used to love that kind of dogs to hunt over. But old age is catching up.Got to slow down.Just don t care about killing a rabbit now.Just love to see good old hound work now.Don t matter if its fast dogs or slow dogs we all need to respect each other in the dogs we have.

I just saw this for the first time this evening. You guys crack me up. That sounds like a great idea. Don' pay any attention to the dogs and what they do. Just run out in front of them and watch the rabbit cross. Now that makes perfect sense to me. Why would I care what's the dogs are doing while running the line. Man do I feel foolish. And why in the world would I want them barking all the line when they could skip half of it and not make all that racket. It must be really obvious what a rookie I am. All those AKC seminar's have been such a waste.
