i would like to judge

I am tired of seeing these same guys judge all the time.
if there are thousands of guys that took the class. why do i always see the same names judging.
I have asked several clubs to judge. now some might not like my blunt honestly, and i am working on that,but
I think i get thew the woods better than most of these judges.

i realize that there are a handfull of guys that really influence our sport and who is judging alot. I HAVE MANAGED TOO pee THEM OFF IN RETURN THEY BASH MY CHARACTER. THERE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IN THE JUDGING

i have asked several clubs to judge for my apprenticeship and was shot down by all. i would leave my hounds too home. if someone could set me up with taking my apprenticeship. i took the seminair but still need to aprentice under a licenced judge.

now i am accused to being brutily hones. now why wouldent anyone want a guy like this to judge there hounds.


I WANT TO SEE THE BEST HOUNDS WIN. PERIOD I WOULD NEVER BE A PART OF BUDDY JUDGING. NOT SAYING THE BEST HOUNDS ARNT WINNING BUT I THINK THERE IS A LOT OF BUDDY JUDGING.

MY STYLE OF JUDGING WOULD BE THE AKC RULE BOOK. IF ANY CAN HELP I AM WILLING TO DRIVE A BIT

Try asking to judge a Derby trial for them just to get your foot in the door. If folks like your judging the word will get out. Its going to be hard to find a club that will take a chance on using you as a judge in a licensed trial when you haven't even judged a Derby. Just being honest with you.

Derek if you wanna judge get on the midwest site,look up all the clubs and contact the field trial secretaries of the club,do want aaron suggested,ask them if you could judge some of there derby trials and work your way into licensed trials,there are some derby trials coming up,one in white water indiana,may 4,there is another coming up and the end of may at great miami,i believe its the 25th.I know were having one(huron valley) just not sure of the dates yet,you might call tom summers at(muskegan river)or contact (blue water)and see if they would use you for them,just my suggestion.

Judging is a thankless job. Someone is always peeing and moaning that they got shafted. They only hear their own dog and don't see what the judge sees. Sure, there are buddy judges and judges that hold grudges. That said, thanks to all who judge. You guys cover some pretty rough terrain.

Try ARHA trials and get your feet wet judging there. Since multiple casts go off at once and all of them need a judge. You can get your work in there. You do well and it won't be long before your getting calls to judge others.

Note: Brace and Agressive judgement on someones pride and joy turns them off. If you turn people off as a judge then you turn people away from a club. Clubs need entries and people. They won't ask you to judge if you don't bring in people, period.

There are consequences in life for our actions. If you lose your cool and composure on a regular basis FTS are not going to call you to fill a position that requires you to keep your composure and a level head.

As an Army recruiter I get guys in my office every single day that want to join the Army but because they have made some bad choices somewhere down the line they are not qualified to join.

You have brought this topic up before and were given the same advice. Get involved in a club. Volunteer your time to judge derby trials or fun trials. Work at the club stocking game and fixing fence to demonstrate your ability and willingness to help. I will warn you that if you create a bunch of drama, start accusing people of things and upseting the peace you will be asked to leave and not come back. All of the effort put forth by club members is voluntary and nobody want to deal with pot stirring. Im aware of two trials you have attended in the last couple years and both trials took several weeks for all the dust to settle. We are all aware that you have very strong opinions on things and are not afraid to share them. The key is learning when to keep them to yourself for the good of peace and sanctity. I have always been pretty bold when speaking my mind, but the older I get the less I have to say. The take away is learning to keep silent is my expressed opinions are going to result in consequences I cant handle.

Getting on the board and saying "I WANT TO JUDGE" is like a 2 y/o screaming in the grocery store....."I want this toy".

I believe you have to earn the right to judge hounds,
As above you first need to judge a lot of derby ,sanctioned trials
You dont just come on with " I want to judge " and expect clubs to
automatically hire you to do their licensed trials

my ways might not be what some call the best but i am not wired like the rest. although my ways offten get results. i am not asking to be hired i would donate my time and earnings to the club. i am not in it for the money. i am in it for the love of the hounds.

Listen i have had my akc judging licesnes for years and believe i am a pretty good judge but its just like everything else if you know the right people you get in. Run the circuit for a while and then maybe you will be ask to judge if not oh well. Have judged several qualifiers and one licensed trial at jackson with my wife. Never judged again.why? dont know but sometimes thats the way the ball bounces. Did the wrong dog win that day not in my eyes but maybe in someone elses. Maybe thats why? Maybe because i dont run the circuit no more or maybe because when i was a young man i was loud and opinionity and people cant handle that. Who knows just keep plugging away and someone will give you a chance. MAYBE>

I am just now getting my feet wet in the trials.But I believe if you hold a card you should judge if you follow all the rules it should not my matter and at the end best dog wins.The same judges time in and time out just does not seem fair.
