COYOTE ATTACK!!

Post by kwolf »

WENT OUT TO RUN DOGS WEDNESDAY EVENING, CUT DOGS LOOSE ABOUT 5:10 PM AT A PRIVATE PLACE . MY TEE BONE DOG OPENED UP BUT DID NOT SOUND RIGHT, MY OTHER THREE DOGS DOUBLED HIM , I WAS STADIND ON A GRAVEL ROAD ABOUT 40 YARDS FROM WHERE HE WAS BARKING THEN ALL THE DOGS STARTED BARKING AS IF SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT . TEE BONE CAME FLYING OUT OF THE THICKET AND MY FEMALE AND WHITEY MALE TOO THEY WERE FREAKED OUT , I COULD HEAR MY SPARKY DOG SCREAMING AND COMING RIGHT TO ME . WHEN HE CAME OUT OF THE THICKET A COYOTE WAS ON HIS BACK TRYING TO WRESTLE HIM DOWN , THIS WAS ONLY 20 FEET FROM ME I STARTED YELLING AND WAS REACHING FOR MY PISTAL AND THE YOTE TOOK OFF BACK IN THE THICKET . I RAN UNTIL ABOUT 9:00 AND DID NOT HAVE ANYMORE YOTE PROBLEMS. I WAS VERY LUCKY, IF I HAD NOT BEEN THAT CLOSE I BELIEVE SPARKY WOULD HAVE BEEN HURT BAD OR MAYBE EVEN KILLED. STAY ON YOUR HOUNDS AND PACK SOME HEAT. RON PRESTON

Mine got it a couple of weeks ago just yards from my house. It did a good number on him. Luckily he pulled through, but I am still finding scars on the poor guy that I had missed before. Everybody needs to run with caution and watch dogs closely at home.

They are protecting there young and feeding them. They WILL attack now. Carry a gun, best solution I have found.

I don't go without one to fire at them. JMO.

It's Turkey season here in Kentucky and I have killed to coyotes coming in to my turkey decoys. The old 10 gage kills on both ends.

YES I STAYED THERE AND RAN UNTIL AFTER DARK, I FIGURED IF IT WAS A SHE COYOTE WITH PUPS SHE WOULD SHOW HERSELF AGAIN . THEY RAN A COUPLE RABBITS RIGHT THRU WHERE THE ATTACK HAPPENED AND NO MORE PROBLEMS THE REST OF THE NIGHT, HOPEFULLY SHE MADE THE CONNECTION THAT THE DOGS WERE WITH A HUMAN, I DID SHOOT OFF A COUPLE ROUNDS WHILE THE DOGS WERE RUNNING ALSO.

I read a post by someone a few years ago and he said, for every beagle a coyote kills he is replacing it with a coyote dog. If you run yotes with big hounds in the area you run beagles they will leave the beagles alone.
