I haven’t commented on the dog (hell i dont even know what dog we are talking about LOL) and also said I would not measure a dog I was just stating why it is within reason to have one measured.

I don't understand what the complaining is about then?
Isn't beating that hound reward (dare I say revenge) enough?

Congrats on getting 2nd, enjoy it, life is too short.

Sounds like their focus was on the wrong dog. That's field trialing for ya, any dog can win!!!

The lack of integrity is a far bigger issue than any rule we have. The majority of time I judge an AKC trial the first words out of my judging partners mouth is "I don't measure dogs out for being 1/4" too tall", my response is "who from AKC gave you the authority to decide which rules to follow and which ones to disregard?"

I agree It's tacky to get a measurement in the finals hoping for big measurement, but to me the bigger issue is having a system that allows it. From what I gather its the general view that only cowards call for measurements, but it's this mentality that could lead to a dog measuring out in the finals. Measure any and all protested hounds before the event starts and be done with it.

Matt, be sure to bring this dog to Huron Valley this week so I can measure him....lol

I have stayed out of this as long as i can. Rebel is one bad dude have beat em and got beat by em. As far as the measuring i was there the dog is under. Terry Bradley showede class act with letting the dogs determine for themselves. The dog is what everybody was talking about they knew they couldnt beat em so try something else but you guys are misssing one point Conti was not scared and rocket was not shaking he didnt agree with the measurment either he wanted the dogs to decide it. At the end Terry got back in my truck saying he got beat and that he had a heck of a time. Here is the other thing yoy run for an hour in that hour you are fortunate to get 35mins of running so in that amount of time it is any dogs game. And like Matt said and Bradley can testify to we got 13in dogs that will give any 15 in or 16 or 17 in all they want its the heart that the dogs have so let the dogs decide the outcome not the handlers or the judges (which they did a hell of ajob that cast)the dogs Congrats Mike Conti and Terry Bradley you guys deserve it two super nice dogs and two super great sportsman

Dave ur last statement is one of my main points in stirring this all up...they do measure before the hunt and u can get a card on ur dog but the card means nothing they can still have u measured....it doesn't make sense to me....

Frank me and u ran the same amount of dogs this year at the world hunt Maybe we will both be back next year

Probably makes sense to the guy who came up with the rule, sort of like these new gun laws they are passing.

Matt state tune brian passmore and i r working on a new format. Again the problem is again with the organization as been a HUGE problem for a long time and why because they will not fix the problem they keep letting someone else do there dirty work in this case the man that called out a dog he thought was over sized. He should had never been put in this position. Its really simple stupid put a measurerment rule in place like ukc akc and let that be the rule. THIS IS ARHA PROBLEM AND THEY SHOULD FIX IT. NOT JIM PRESTON NOT CRAIG TULL rest in peace. YOU keep putting your membership in harms way and i dont know why unless you just dont give a DAM. If the rule was all dogs that get to the finals r to be measured then Mr. Preston would not look so bad to us law breakers lol. But because he had to do the dirty work and use a rule that the organization has put forth to try and get a dog eliminated he is the bad guy. I would not ever measurer a dog but i am a lawbreaker but take that out of Mr. Prestons arsenial and You be the bad guy ARHA.

Got NO dog in this hunt and in fact don't trail them at all BUT love reading all these debates about the beagle trials. As an outsider looking in it appears to me that this format's rules ain't worth a crap. If you pay and get a measurement card that is supposed to serve as proof the dog meets the registry's mandate but then the dog can be callled to measurement at any time means that rule ain't worth the paper it's written on. Now, if the rules state that ANY dog can be called to be measured and folks are on here complaining when that rule was used then THAT rule ain't worth a plug nickle either. If I were running such a dog and someone called for a measurement at that point I would be pumped up as it would be apparent that the contender was shared to compete against the dog. Is it unethical NO, as it is the rule.
From all the bickering over rules which I have read for a long time on here it appears that being a spectator is the best place to be. I've seen it all in coon hound trials and it appears it is no differnt in the little hounds. The word of the rules is the rules regardless of what one thinks and I believe the framers of them had a reason for every one of them in black and white but when they put them to paper they MUST enforce everyone of them otherwise one deviation leads to another and then you have a set of rules not worth the paper they are written on.

Whats wrong with adding the measuring card fee to the cost of registration and set a spacific age to be officially measured. then given a card that stands with no chance to ever be measured again. That way the association gets the money they are after and we can leave the syake in the closet where it belongs.
But adding to the post, if i ever measure a dog just trying to get a win(especuially a grang), the throw the pink panties on me and send me home. that is a low life way to win.
