Could something have leaked into the ground water? Maybe spray from a tractor, or coolant from an engine of some kind? Too much roundup?

My buddy has a small puppy pen only about one acre and we usually put about 5-6 rabbits in it when we have pups to get started. Everyone one of the usually is dead withing a few months. Thats with having multiple feeders and waters in the pen. Never could figure out why, but if you put wild rabbits in there from the same area they stay alive with no issues.

Mr. Lang is correct. You need to either make small ponds/mud holes, or water down the vegetation to get them water. My brother had a small puppy pen, and we put a couple small mud holes in it, and he would spray what he could reach with the garden hose during the summer in the evening.

Our wild rabbits never had an issue it was only when we put in San Juan's or blue bellies they were the ones that died. They are chicken waters and I have seen the wild rabbits drink out of them.

Coccidious is the most likely culpirt. It gets in the soil and lasts for years. It has wreak havoc in the NE hare breeding pens. I understand Sandy Spring has a special food that they use that seems to prevent coccidious. To rabits and dogs it the same a MONTEZUMA'S REVENGE. When it Mexico don't drink the water! I've seen it in young pups and they can't hardly walk, won't eat and very skinny. Give then the medicine and the next day they are find. Remember, Diarrhea is fatal to childred and is the #1 killer of men outdoors. You buy the medicine cheap by the gallon ($100+) which is about the price of a pint of Albon. It is nasty tasting, I don't know if the rabbits will drink the water treated with the cure.

I started using medicated chick starter (crumbles) to control this problem in my pen. Just put it in the feeders.

Thank yall so much for the info. This pen is around 14 years old and is 6 ac puppy pen.Only been wild rabbits in it.I feed rabbit feed in it and just before the rabbits were sick I put some sweet taters. But I have notice rabbits getting sick in the last two years in it but never this many at one time.I think its in the ground because the rabbits outside the pen are getting along find and I don t feed them. Its not the taters or feed cause the other pens are doing find.I not doing anything different in none of them.Maybe I will try the med chick starter this fall and lime the place and just go from there.Thank yall so much for the help.

cottontails will drink out of a bowl --that is the only water in my pen --no grass or weeds in breeder pen --they have been in there for years -introduce new stock once a year ---so no inbreeding ---
ALWAY GO BY THE RULES AND NEVER A PROBLEM
