Peeing where you sleep???

Post by yoteslayer »

I have a male pup that will pee inside his box, why? Can it be stopped? Also this dog drinks 2 or 2.5 times as much water as my other dogs, does this have something to do with it???

The drinking more water may be do to health issues, had one that had blood sugar problems that drank alot, also vet told me once some dogs drink alot when they are wormy.

Most dogs will pee in straw. Dont know why. I switched to electric heat pads this year and cant see where any have peed on them. When its cold straw holds all the moisture. I found myself changing it weekly. Heat pads are the way to go.....

I had 3 pads last year, I removed them for the summer. When I put them back in this fall, two of them were chewed in half the first day. Ill put the last remaining pad in this dogs house and see what happens.

Dogs are going to chew something. Been feeding RAW diet with plenty of bones for some time and the kennel chewing stopped.

I kennel a friends two dogs from time to time that are on kibble. They crap more in 2 weeks than mine do in 6 months and he feeds expensive holistic foods. Really is unbelievable. Makes you wonder if they are digesting anything?

Feed ample amounts of bone and you will find your kennel chewing will stop.

Raw eggs are cheap, give one or two three times a week, just break over their feed and throw away the shell. Use a barrel for dog house with a few holes drilled in bottom that is off the ground a short distance like an inch. Drinking that much water shows something is wrong inside dog. Wish I could see his hair coat, gums, tongue, as that tells a lot.

Box is too big. they don't need much room when they curl up. make the box just big enough to curl up, the peeing will stop and he'll be warmer in the winter. My boxes are built with adjustable slides for this reason. if i have more than one dog to a box i will pull out the slide and make the box a litte bigger. However, when i remove one of the dogs from that box i have to down size the box ( reinstall the slide) or they will pee in the box. Hope this helps.

I had a dog do that a while back and took her to the vet she had a urinary tract infection. Amoxicillin cleared it up after a few days.

Thanks for the tips, this box is about 3 times bigger then it needs to be. The dog checked out for heart worms and everything else, the Vet said if a dog is lacking nuetrients sometimes they try to make up for it with water. Ive noticed he has been drinking less water since he has gotten used to the raw diet. She said the switch to raw could have messed with the enzymes in his stomach and caused him to drink more untill his acids balanced out as well. Either way he has a clean bill of health from the vet.
