Because Bernanke has the printing presses running at above capacity shoveling money into the system. Would you invest that money in Bonds or Stocks?

Nothing here driving the market, seems that the over sea's market might be causing another bubble be careful it might pop.

At the present job growth, how many generations will it take to match the labor participation rate when the democrats took control of the government.

Re: Why is the stock market thriving
You can dismiss pmb as usual.
Reality is simply because of what Newt said.........the government is propping up the economy which makes it look better. People want to point out how "well" the stock market is doing which is all fine and dandy but if there were any real confidence in the market you wouldn't see it bounce nearly as bad as it does every time one of our politicians sneezes. Wall Street is no different now than they were before...........they're taking advantage of the situation. Before it was the bloated housing market and corrupt investors, owners, etc and now it's a false sense of security because of our government but regardless they're gonna continue the push to make a buck at every turn until the bottom falls out again. I think every one of em started out as a used car salesman.
Think of it like that family we've all seen living high on the hog. At a glance you'd think they're doing quite well for themselves but down the road when they lose their house you find out they'd been living off of credit cards and it finally caught up with them.............we're headed down the same road. If you choose to live beyond your means it can only last just so long. The only difference is the government can print their own money and set their own credit limit which allows them to hide the trouble we're in for much longer than you or I could in our own personal lives.

So your answer is to get government out ,let the economy collapse ,kill the job's that survived ,the last Republican tyranny.destroy what Bush left of America's standing in the world .
And focus on what the Republican Party is doing right now --going after the affordable care act yet again. --yep -that should fix it.

Re: Why is the stock market thriving
What is it that you PMB don't understand about the fact that after all of Obamas spending that less people are employed now than where the day Obama took office.
Re: Why is the stock market thriving
PM, does the name Attorney David Boise ring a bell. He was Clinton's Defense Attorney. He is a well known democrat, still friend of Al Gore. He is now representing AIG in a suit against the US Governemtn. He is stating the Government, Paulson and Gietner, bailed out AIG, for no reason other than funneling money through them to pour money into other companies friendly to Obama. That is a democrats words, not mine.
