well I wasn't going to post my opinion as normally, I don't. I usually just read and shake my head, at some of the post on this board. But, harry snow if slow mouthy dogs are ruining this breed. So are all the guys breeding them tight mouth, hot nosed dogs. Nothing I hate more then watching a dog take a hot track out and not say a word. It disgusts me, or dogs that only can bark when they are in front or the weather is perfect. If you got the track and are making forward progress you best be barking. i will take smooth running dogs like marks. over them beagles that can't bark unless there on the rabbits tail. granted I do like a little stepper dog than that. but I'm less worried about mark ruining the breed then the guys who are breeding for tight mouthed dogs.

Harry you are the man!!! I didn't know I was talking to the best dog breeder and field trialer that ever lived.
As far as your dogs and all you have accomplished my hats off to you, but that still doesn't give you the right to bash anyone on this board including myself that likes to see different types of beagles run. I don't trial, but would love for you to post some videos of your hounds.

I'm not hideing behind the monitor and just because you give your real name doesn't mean anything to me. I guess I asked for it because I bashed your spelling. I'm Sorry, but you must have thin skin if my little comment about what you said got you all worked up. You said to bring on the comments, so I told you what I thought about your tasteless comment on Mark's dogs.

Mark doesn't have to defend his dogs or his breeding style to suit you. He loves his dogs and has never bashed anyone about their hounds, even if they were not his style. He is a positive guy that is proud of his hounds and I am glad that he post videos on here for me to enjoy.

Bev created this board for beaglers to to enjoy and connect with other beaglers. She can kick you off if she wants to I've seen it happen many times by guys that wanted to get unnecessary arguments started. If you read the rules of the board you would know that bashing other people or their dogs is not allowed. You do have a right to your opinion but in this case you should have kept it to yourself after you watched Marks video.

You knew people would comment on what you said, which is probibly why you said it. Negative attention to some is better than no attention at all. Everyone has seen at least one of Marks videos including yourself and if you knew you didn't like his dogs you shouldn't have even wasted your time watching it. I'm sure it really wouldn't have hurt his feelings and he isn't going to cull his dogs because you don't like them.

Bickering on this board about petty opinions doesn't help promote beagling PERIOD.

Commenting any more will only fuel your fire.

Your wrong about me old boy... I have NEVER seen a beagle too fast or too rough. Here, they run to kill or they dont stay. But you got no right to bash... Opinions sure, but bashing a guy is uncalled for. Have a little class harry....

I understand what you mean harry. I started with hounds like that 25 yrs ago. Nowadays i would never kennel a hound with gears like that. But the true mark of a man is not judged by the type of hound he runs or likes. Cut the guy a little slack... Never know, one day he may enjoy a fast hound but until then he deserves a much respect as anyone else on the board.

Respectfully yours, Pat Diorio

Format:

I'd say they're a little easy for Progressive Pack.
Probably do well in AKC SPO like UBGF or PBGA.

* To those that are sheltered...
This style of hound is currently the most popular in AKC trials and puppy registrations.
Plus, they are worth more money than any other beagle format.
Why?
As we lose hunting grounds, acreage, leases, etc.
Having a hound that can keep a rabbit circling on 5-20 acres is valuable.
Hounds of the future??

I don't run this type hound but merely state the facts.

did you guys with the fast dogs ever see a dog go thru where they lost it,,??? slow but barking every breath -,
one dog in a pack with a little of that style can keep a race going ,

i always wished i could bottle those dogs up and add it to some of mine a drop at a time :D
i like the way marks dogs can run steady, almost without a check , i could use more of that inmost of my dogs -
i dont like dogs that only have one speed -- - want them to fly when they can but walk when they have to-
wanting them to do that and getting one that does isnt as easy as typing it here :D
