I see if u breed to a hound because it is a fc. You might be falling off the ladder. Instead of climing to the top. with the cheep wins,buddy judging,style at which one likes instead of the rules. U really dont no what u are getting. Jmo
nose is a trait that has to be seen on bad days. And guy wont show there hounds in the wild on them days

Chaps, im not sure the fc title is the champ in question. Last i knew akc did not demerit on a 3 bark/ 3 min rule? Funny how one rule can change a breeding program. When i was a regular trialer i learned very little when the dogs pounded. It was those bad days where the good hounds showed up. Only thing is its next to impossible to breed a stud to hot nosed bitch and get all big nose dogs. You better have an a1 big nose female with similar traits behind her and strong breeding to bet that card. Way to many variables for a guy to make exact summary of genitics. Thats why the standouts are few and far between.

Brad , did you keep any out of that liter that my little blue female (Alley) is out of ? She doesn't run on a cold track like you described in your question , but is showing a good nose for cottontail on Michigan snow. Hunts good , good control with good speed. I run her with big males all the time and she gets her share of work done. Very good track dog and turning into a well rounded hound.

I can see that in the future , I may be breeding her to the big male (Buster) I kept out of Abby's last liter.Their pedigrees should match up well ,but more importantly to me their traits match well. Both are still young yet , but show everything you hope to see in hounds their age with little to no faults. He is probably my best dog that also has a very good nose in my opinion.

How's Friday afternoon sound I get home about 4:30pm ? Or Sunday morning ? I got plans Saturday.

You can't run a rabbit if you can't smell it. If my dogs minus out at a trial then so what. When that rabbit gets up I want to know that my dog can smell it and not being able to will get you beat. All my dogs have a big nose and will sell them if they don't. It's nice to see a dog come thru with their head up and not miss a beat running to catch.
