I've never been around many of the Green Bay dogs mentioned in this post. I only have seen Shooter run and let me tell you I am very blessed and fortunate to have seen a great dog when I first started being a beagler. I remember watching Green Bay run with three big named studs with Adam Seger. The over all hunt and drive of Shooter was amazing, but his sense of direction or his knowing of the point of loss was what I thought was mind blowing. He was by far the best check dog out there.

I remember a few beaglers that talked like Shooter was to small or his pups didnt have the foot for them, but after Shooter went off public stud, everyone just seemed to want something out of him or wanted to breed to him. That right there says a lot a out a dog, I just saw Shooter last time I was over at Adam's and for an old dog, he is lookin good.

Seen several pups out of Shooter and some were better than others, but the ones I seem over the last five years had the same traits that Shooter had.

I recently had the pleasure of spending the majority of a day in Joes pen at his home. Listening to Joe talk about beagles is like listening to Dale Earnhardt talk about racing. Joe gave us alot of tips and told us what it takes to make a beagle a rabbit hound. Joe knows more about training beagles then most of us could only dream about knowing! I hope to someday be able to get a top performer out of Joes kennel, for right now I will keep working with my newest addition to my kennel, Green Bay GG. I would have loved to write Joe a check the day I was there and take Eli home with me, as you can imagine that didnt happen. I have been trying to keep up with Joes tips for a training regiment but the way this weather has been it has been raining, windy and just plain miserable. The information that Joe shared with us that day has played over in my head 100 times and I hope to never forget any of it. As far as GB dogs go in general, would you bet against them?? Theres your answer!!!!

Why was Shooter removed from public stud? I had heard a lot about him before and was interested in seeing him, but then heard he was no longer available.

Same old story I believe Adam just got tired of dealing with all the headaches that go along with studding a dog out. I have only seen a few Greenbay hounds run, but I have seen several out of Shooter run many of which I own or bred. Depending on the cross I would say most have upper medium speed, hard hunt and good noses. Some can be a little high strung in the kennel.

Also you gotta remember breeding takes a toll on a old dog. I think Adam wanted to enjoy Shooter and use him for his own crosses.

YES, alot of us ole dogs have to take notes now days as we just can't keep up! I will also agree with cutting back on the wear and tear of an aging dog and the owner. It also takes a lot of time in dealing with ALL the public demands. I have been to Adams several times and know that he is an honest man that treats folks right and sometimes good guys get wore out, old or young!

I just heard that eli first, deano 2nd, n dika 3rd at baydenoc. The best word to describe gb hounds is consistent. GB is not over with those hounds. The best is yet to come.
