LARGE PACK

Large pack trials are a good test of endurance. you must have a hound that can hang on . some triais up north can run as long as 8 to 9 hours . most large pack judges are not so conserveted, but still a hound must do his job and not just follow the pack if you have a hound that can take charge and lead and do it right he'll do good you can go to http://WWW.AKC.ORG and order a rule book the rules do not differ much as for as the running . my advice is to got to one and just watch . if its judged right I think It's the best test for a dog .

I am considering going to this large pack trial, are you gonna be there saturday to run big males?? Shoot me an e-mail sometime. I will be up that way for xmas, maybe we can get together and do some hunting. See ya

this is not true i dont like that in akc there is no rule as to giving a dog the boot if they run trash but theres other ways of sending them packing as for trash iv'e been to lp and ukc trials and have had dogs trash maybe who told you this needs to go to a good lph trial and watch thank you

i just meant in large pack i just wouldn't want my dog in a trash race how many dogs would there be in a cast ? i usually run little pack and just thought my dog might do well in large pack but i dont know much about it.
he is real fast and can control the race with most dogs i have ran him with.
but he is pretty rough if u push him hard he's not the type of dog that will run second dog and be happy if u know what imean

Rest assured that your dog will be pushed in large pack and if he gets rough it will be a short day. All dogs entered are dropped at once. Judges score on lines and checks. Dogs get picked up for skirting, etc. Many dogs have a difficult time switching from hare to cottontail and back. What I mean here is a dog trained on cottontail will likely be slower on hare. Give it a try you may like it.
