Joey I think the green and yellow bag of diamond is good feed. My only problem with it was that the kibble seemed big and dense, which resulted in me running out of food faster(may have just been in my head)
My favorite foods today are joy 24/20, high standard 26/18, and pro plan performance. Pp is just a little too costly but I love the lack of stools. I wish a victor dealer was close, id like to try that as well. Let me know if you find something that really works out well for you.

I use to worry about keeping corn and other fillers like barley out of there diet until i was talking to a friend who is a vet teacher and she was saying how studies have shown corn to be good because it balances the dogs glutton count or something.

Also if you think about it, look at some of the more pricey feed like science diet, iams, Purina, etc they all have corn in alot of there feed and these companies are the ones who spend tones of money on testing and quality control.

Joe, go pick up a bag of something that has a good pro/fat% and feed the dogs. you may have to clean up some extra crap but who really cares considering all your dogs are above ground.

I would say Purina has the best quality of food if you use the weight circles, but the Pride dog food has good quality also with cheap prices and no recalls.

I like purina pro plan sport. It cost more, but I don't have to feed as much to keep weight and energy up on my dogs. You can get reward points and coupons on line from purina which helps offset the cost.

Hi-Standard 24/20 orange bag-26/18 purple bag. Ive noticed that the feed changes with hi standard some batches better than others. i was buying the orange bag was lookin at the color of the food it was a dark color to start with then faded to a light color brown. so i switched to the purple 26-18 and it was almost black. and the dogs looked and acted alot better stool was better hard dark stool. So im goin to keep switching because the bag i bought today looks like its got 2 diffrent colored pellets light and dark. I personaly think the darker the feed the better. JMO and i may be completly wrong but im stickin with it. I also want to try Victor dog food.

I have fed Hi-Standard, Pride and Diamond and have never had a problem. When I used to run more often my dogs always looked good and did well on all of them. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Pride and the Hi-Standard was a very close second.

High Standard Purple bag....$26.50 here...I won't ever switch again.

I have (in the past) switched to -

Pride Lime Green Bag - had a problem with a bag and they refused to even test a sample...1/2 bowl and all dogs were vomiting including house dogs. I had good luck with it up to that point. All I wanted them to do was refund me the bag but they would not stand behind their product, basically said my dogs must be unhealthy and are rejecting good food.

Exceed Pink Bag (Sams version of Eukanuba) - Great feed, no complaints...we just don't make it to Sam's Club very often.

Custom Made Feed - Long Story but got burnt bad...turned out the guy was a scam artist and feed was not that great.

Pro Plan Performance - Great feed but I don't run enough and left the dogs jacked up with nowhere to go...plus very expensive.

Joy - dogs coats were visiably dull but they did have good energy.

Black Gold - Too hard to find and they got real proud of their food in a real short period of time.

Each time I switched I found myself right back to Hi-Standard Purple bag wondering why I switched in the first place.....something to do I guess.

If they do not carry it talk to the manager and make a case for them to seek out the distributor in the area (Call Wade at HS and find out who it is). I did that with a local grocery store in my old town and now the guy can't keep it in stock and thanks me everytime I see him (got a few free lunches out of the deal). Since we moved the local Farm Co-Op carries it and is only about 5 min from my house but everytime I am back in my old area I pick up a bag or two just to see how things are going and pick up a free sub.

I am likeing the 24/20 Pride. They have kept good weight thru the winter and hunting season .A few older females I use for puppy trainers have gotten a little fat.I'm not sure about the while corn being bad for dogs thing.Over the years raiseing cattle the farm dogs I've had around will always eat the cattle feed most prefer it over dogfood. All it is is whole ear ground corn and soybean meal or ground soybean hay. They will get right in the feed trough at feeding time if I don't put some out for them, and have dog food sitting in the food dish.I've never had one sick except from a snake bite.
