Re: Garmin collars
I don't think a dog's size has much to do with it. I've seen a male that was all of 16" have the wounds from the Garmin collar. I think a dog that runs with his head down all the time will beat their legs up. The dogs that lift their head more , when trailing ,wont beat theirs up as bad , if at all.
The 16" male mentioned here was a head always down type hound.

Re: Garmin collars
Does the dog have crooked legs? I've seen a few that hammer the heck out their legs because they bow in a bit kinda like a bassett.....after a few hours they were literally bleeding from it.

Re: Garmin collars
check the zip ties on the antenna. . . the zip tie will destroy their legs, wrap it in black tape if you have to.

I am having this problem to the extent that I'm considering sending the collars back. Cant be good for their legs to get beat on time after time.
If I agreed with you then we'd both be wrong.

Re: Garmin collars
Garmin Alpha is what I have. One female I only ran once with this and she came back with a raw bare spot on by her knee. She's 12.5". I have some bigger it doesn't get as bad but for the money....... I think they need to get the size down. I do like knowing where they are at. Is the Tek collar any smaller?johns03272008 wrote:What collars do you have?Swamper AR wrote:I am having this problem to the extent that I'm considering sending the collars back. The Velcro pads that goes on the handle bars of a kids bike to keep them from knocking there teeth out will work for you collar.
