The pup would be dead already if it was parvo. They do not make it more than a couple days once the virus starts showing symptoms. I have heard of very few cases of any dog making it through parvo, even with the right care.

The vet seems to think it is some kind of internal infection or irritation of the stomach and intestines. He started the pup on a antibiotic and said to keep feeding her food thats easy on the stomach.

When I have a pup like that I usually worm them really well. Then I give them a seven day course of fishzole (which is Metrodiazole) which you can buy via a pet suppy house. After that I will add generic albon to there drinking water for a few weeks. That will get everything (worms, Giardia and cocidisis). Last spring I had a whole litter of pups act the same way. You have to remember at that age they are usually just weaned off there mom and in alot of stress. Do not overfeed them as this makes it worse. Put there food down and after they have had some pull it away. feed them small meals 3-4 times a day. Also get them off wet food as soon as you can in onto dry puppy food. Stop feeding the pup all kinds of other foods cereal, milk, ect. If the stool gets real bad just give the some white rice and ground cooked turkey, no milk products. Also if you give the pups wet puppy chow and leave it down all day bacteria grows in the chow and is not good for there system. I have raised 1 to 2 litters a year for the last 4-5 years and have never lost a pup. If you go to paw-paws beagle site you will get more info, this site is the best info I have ever found...... http://pawpawskennels.webs.com/

I have treated for worms and coccidiosis since the day I got the pups. I have four out of two different litters. The other three were a two of the other three were a little sick but look great now. One has never been sick, if he keeps growing he is going to be huge. The one pup is the only one sick now. She still eats, just not alot. Seems to be real a picky eater. Stool earlier today looked a little better. I give her a little fluid by syringe to make sure she does mot get dehydrated and I am going to keep her in the brooder dearing the day to try and keep the other pups off of her. She still has a long way to go.

I just had one with it about a month ago. It had the same symptoms. I had to give it antibiotics and fluids under the skin. Now he is doing fine. I gave it the shots from TSC and the vet said most of those are not any good. It was definately parvo and there are several different kinds.

I agree with owl creek, Giardia. It is pretty difficult for a vet to pick up in the stool.....Good luck DH

He is from SC, plenty warm enough. Also Giardia can be passed from the dam to the pups. At least thats with my vet told me a few years back when one of my females came down with it........Again good luck ....DH

he said he already treated for coccidiosis.
I dont know what with. but Albon wont get rid of Giardia.
you need to get some probotics in the pup.
i am sure all the meds has depleated all the good bacteria as well .

i have had great sucsses treating with the safeguard, the 7 day is almost obsolete our vet went to a 10 day treatment and i use this
http://www.kvsupply.com/KVVet/product_f ... C415BFED85 it works wonders in 3 to 4 days.

Giardia is often is mis diagnosed as coccidiosis. but if not in a specific stage they wont see it.
good luck with yor pup.

I had a pup over a year ago with the same symptoms you described. Did the albon, pedialyte, etc and got the pup to come back around. Discontinued the meds when I was told I should have and a week later the pup went downhill fast again and eventually had to put it down.

I don't know what exactly you're pup has since I am no expert but what I can tell you is if you get the pup back to being healthy keep a close eye on it for a while even afterwards.
