It seems like by far the majority of AKC SPO dogs are soloed before they go to the trials. I wonder if this means that they will be less and less useful to breed to down the road for those of us that strictly pack our dogs?

I really don't mean for this to be a bash fest. This question is still something I really don't know but wonder about. Almost every dog we own has a few dogs in their pedigree that were successful in AKC trials. I try to attend an SPO trial or two every year just to see what is out there. I recently bought a female to breed to out of Freejack based on one of her pups and what I saw him do at a large pack trial a few years ago. I think it would be a shame to not have all the great dogs that run in the Midwest to choose from just because I don't solo.

So, let me try this once more. It seems like by far the majority of AKC SPO dogs are soloed before they go to the trials. I wonder if this means that they will be less and less useful to breed to down the road for those of us that strictly pack our dogs?

Fair Question.....I would ask the same but with a little different wording

It seems like by far the majority of PKC/ARHA dogs are packed before they go to the trials. I wonder if this means that they will be less and less useful to breed to down the road for those of us that sometimes like to solo our dogs?

Hmmm....two sides of every coin ;)

I tend to find that west coast dogs don't need as much solo time as east coast dogs and show dogs can wipe their own asses just something to think about
