Mr. Parrino, Good idea. what I really think would do a lot of good is if every law-abiding gun owner would be a member of the NRA . They are at the forefront of gun ownership . Just look at the media and congress today who are they talking about as the biggest obstacle to gun confiscation. I personally believe that if you own a gun and are not a member you are letting others do the fighting for you and are allowing them to carry your burden. I know some landowners who will not allow you to step on their property to hunt unless you are a member of the NRA. they consider you a hypocrite. I wish more landowners were like them. 60 million gun owners and only 4 million members , doesn't say much about personal responsibility. Good Luck!

Re: Everyone please read and Sign the petition
I signed the petition too! Which politician will folks put into office that DOESN"T take one or more of our rights away? Our country seems to NOT have the backbone to support a boni-fide third party of the people, for the people and by the people so we are stuck with BIG money ruling over us.

GW: NRA lifer but, I don't necessarily think we need to press on this AR15, 223 thing. Perhaps, giving a little on clip size, etc., would take some of the anti's off our backs. Saw a cop shoot a dog chasing a horse the other day. He hit it with the AR but the bullet went right through the dog and bounced off a propane tank. Dumbest thing I ever saw a cop do. This guy is the local chief with 40 years in grade.

Buck, I have been an NRA member for 34 years. I believe in carrying my own weight, same as you. I don't care to hunt with others who are not members. With that being said, I personally do not care for assault style rifles, had they never been allowed for civilian sales I would not be mad about it! . But they are semi-autos the same as my shotguns. The only problem I see with allowing them to be outlawed now that we have them, is it gives the antis a foot in the door, against other semi-autos think about some of the tubular fed 22 L.R. semi-autos when considering high-capacity, how would a clear distinction be drawn. I think most of us understand that there is a certain " Odd " mentality among some of the owners of these Assault style weapons that does not exist in any noticeable numbers with other groups of firearms owners. Now, I did not say that the majority of owners of assault style firearms are odd, ( I had to clarify that, because a lot of folks have trouble with their comprehension, as proof just watch what I am accused of saying after this post is made) I personally believe there is something odd about folks who just like to empty magazines and spray lead without taking time to take aim. But once again for the reasons stated I would not support a ban on assault type weapons, but I don't think that a ban on high capacity magazines for these rifles would be a step in the wrong direction, but I don't think it will cause a decrease in the mentally ill wanting them. ( they will simply carry more magazines) I have been supporting gun ownership with my money for 34 years and as I have said if someone wants to limit the capacity of magazines for these rifles, I wouldn't want to spend a dime to stop them!
Re: Everyone please read and Sign the petition
i would say for all hunters and gun enthusiast's this is, should be of importance and we need to stick together on this.

Really? When the stated goal of Anti gun activists is the confiscation of ALL firearms for the public you think "giving a little on clip size" will get some of them off your back? Incrementalism is their method of operation with their agenda and YOU want to give them exactly what they want...a foothold to destroy the 2nd Amendment.bucks better beagles wrote:GW: NRA lifer but, I don't necessarily think we need to press on this AR15, 223 thing. Mr Young, I can appreciate your opinion, however I personally do NOT want my name on a membership roll where the federal government can get at it and make it easier for them to begin confiscation. The feds already consider gun owners and VETERANS as a group to watch for DOMESTIC TERRORISM...I am sure the membership of the NRA is also under watch. I am a responsible gun owner, I vote and contact my representatives regularly to voice my opinion but I am NOT a life member of the NRA. That does NOT mean I am not active in trying to stop the Anti's...I have "assault rifles" with hi cap magazines and see nothing wrong with fighting for them either. I think the NRA does a lot of good and have donated to them in the past and probably will in the future...I just like being able to remain fairly anonymous where they are concerned....I don't trust the feds at all.gwyoung wrote:Mr. Parrino, Good idea. what I really think would do a lot of good is if every law-abiding gun owner would be a member of the NRA . The 1st amendment allows the usual liberal narcissistic "I think.." which is how they start all their sentences.
The second amendment protects us from implementing "I think"
