Sarcoptic Mange
Doc, I am currently treating some pups for sarcoptic mange mites, they were infected pretty bad...skin flaking and losing hair etc...they seem to be doing better now, hair is growing back and they generally look healthier. I was wondering about their size though...they are about 10 weeks old and seem a little undersized compared to my other litters this year...Would this parasite be able to stunt their growth and will they catch up as they get rid of the infections??? Thanks in advance, Tony
Had a pup a while back that had it, She looked small and unhealthy but now she looks great ,hair is slick and smooth and she has grown so much.
I took her to the vet ,they gave her a shot of ivermec and some oral meds. after she showed signs of getting better I put the Happy jack mange med on her and it made her heal even faster. It smells REALLY bad.
Hope this Helps,
Tim

Thanks, Tim...good to hear yours are doing well...It is a really smelly condition isn't it??? Coat feels greasy and nasty too. The pups have had Ivomec and antibiotics and a medicated shampoo and oatmeal rinse, they seem to feel better and I hope they come through well as they are excellent stock and I have high hopes for their running futures...Tony
is this what they call the bloody mange, and isnt this the mange thats in the blood system,,,,,,im just asking because i had a couple of dogs that set and scratched thier selves raw,,,the happy jack mange med is some good stuff it brought thier hair back and the scabs went away,,,,,,
