snow and lots of it!

Post by BEAGLEBLUES »

I woke up this morning to "blizzard conditions" according to local news. For someone who only sees snow about once a year, this is not fun. Any body else in ky, mo, southern il, or northwest tn have a report on snow. I think were close to 6 in so far.

The definition of blizzard I think is snow with wind. At least 35 mph . I know this sounds like whining to northern members. Thanks for the breakfast idea. I think a fried swamper would go well with those biscuits n/gravy and grits. :D

No actual measurement as of yet for me but it appears to be around 8 inches and still snowing. The wind is howling as well and they have declared a snow emergency, meaning no one on the roads unless it is an emergency! I've got my grader blade already on my tractor but I'm not gonna plow anything until it quits snowing and blowing. I ain't even gettin out of my jammies yet either.

Got 8" piled on the picnic table. Got dug out in front of all the kennel gates, gonna raise the doors next year so I can get them open without all the shoveling.
Ken, we got a good bit of sleet & ice before the snow started last night, so you might hit a slick spot trying to push that snow away.

Talked to the boys at work an they gett'n along fine, just hope their relief shows up shortly so they can go home. Brother said the County ain't done much with the roads with the drifting so anybody's guess on who can get through.
I picked a good week for vacation, esp. since the world didn't end...

Well, the snow finally stopped BUT the wind is still howling out there. I finally got out of my jammies walked out to the kennel to feed and water the dogs and walked out to the rabbit pens to take care of them as well. Got the tractor out and got the 12" of snow plowed down my lane. I was already out and about so I plowed the county road from crosroad to crossroad and got ALL the neighbors drive ways plowed out as well. The snow was really kind of wet so I'm hoping all that work won't blow it all shut again this evening. I sure had a hard time walking in that new 12" of snow to the kennel and the pole barn. I saw two young deer out my back window and they didn't seem to be having any trouble walking in it at all but it sure had me huffing and puffing! That stuff is hard on an ole fat guy.
