Sight Chasing and poor scenting conditions
Took my 11 month old male out this morning solo and he circled one rabbit without any trouble then he holed up. the next one he jumped he sight chased for about 40 yards and scent trailed for maybe 50 more yards, Then he just quit and came back. I thought that was strange but we went and jumped another that he didnt see, but ran very well again, untill he jumped him again and sight chased him for 30 yards. He scent tracked him for about 40 yards and quit again. This happened again on the next rabbit. I picked him up and came home. What the hell is going on? Are the tracking conditions maybe not the best and he figured out its easier to sight chase them today. He hasnt ever done this untill today, and he did it three times.

I've been having the same thing going on. Hounds will hammer for one or two circles then dead silents. I think if your hound quits holing up you'll be alright.

Haha, yeah I hate when the hound goes in a hole!! Especially if the rabbit doesnt!!!! I took him back out this afternoon and he ran alot better. So hopefully he just had a brainfart this morning?!?!
