The largest litter in our kennel has been the Dolly/Skim breeding. There were ten puppies and she raised all of them. I've heard of larger litters (16-17 pups), but can't confirm and don't know if all survived.

I know of one with 13 and one with 11 but not all survived, maybe 1/2 of each litter. I also heard of a coonhound that had 19, not sure how many made it and another coonhound that had 12 and raised them all.

Dr. Leon Whitney's 1950 Vet text suggests 13 beagles pups was the most he'd heard of. Foxhound litters hold the record - 23 pups, although there's no explicit statement they all survived. I kind of wonder if more recent advances in nutrition and breed selection had changed things any.

My Grand Champion delivered 11 pups and raised them all. 5 males, 6 females. She had 10 the litter before 5 males 5 females. She had 11 last litter too but lost 3.
Her daughters first litter consisted of 9 pups and raised all.

I know of a litter of 13 Beagles some years back. She raised them all. She had some help though. Separated them into two groups, one of seven, and the other six. Rotated feeding times between the two so there would be enough places at the trough. Also gave the pups formula to help out. The bitch sure had an appetite, but she had the milk to get them to weaning age.

My female has had two litters, 7 & 8 respectively. I was told by the breeder that I bought her from that her mother had a litter of 10 and her grandmother had a litter of 11. All survived.

Think it was in late 80's or early 90's, was a picture in The Rabbit Hunter Magazine of big litter 13 or 15 pups.

I have a bitch that had and raised 12 pups, with no help from me at all. They are now 7 months old and all doing fine.

I had a bitch that had 11. I buried a new flattenned pup every day until she got down to 4. I had another bitch that had 10 in every litter. She raised 7 each time.

on jan10 my weed eater molly female had 13 she lost 6 that day and one more before they were a week old .the remaining are all surviving and thriving.and are weaned and eating like pigs. another thing is ,they were whelped in 58 days from the day she was bred. the biggest i ever raised was 9 and all survived from a yellow creek female. heres the odd part her name was molly also. is it unusual for a bitch to whelp in that short of a time? i think that the prematurity of their birth contributed to so many dying in this last litter, any comments :?:
