It does take a little time getting used to everything. The system does work good. Being able to turn on the collar lights when running at night is nice and having the shock collar built in is nice so you don't need 2 collars. Battery life is good. I have not tried to see how far it will track or tone/shock yet.

It works great. I haven't used in it freezing cold weather yet and I'm not positive how the touch screen will work under those conditions but so far it hasn't disappointed me at all. It's pretty easy to use and I like several of the new features. The geofence and radius alarms for when a dog goes outside a preset distance or zone is awesome.

Turning the lights on remotely is good and the 2.5 second updates give the unit a lot more accuracy than the older 220 I had as to where the dog is right then.

I also like the rechargeable handheld unit, AA's are nice because you can buy them anywhere but that lithium battery pack is nice because you don't need to keep buying batteries and carry a bunch of them around....lithiums also generally handle the cold weather much better than alkalines so battery life should be much better than previous versions in cold weather.

The reception is great, I rarely ever drop a dog's gps signal with the Alpha...with my 220 it happened often and it would take a long time for the unit to pick the signal back up. It also took a long time for the collar and receiver to link up to each other when I turned them on at the beginning of a hunt....I used to turn all my collars and gps on for the last several miles of my trip so they would be ready to go when I dropped my dogs down. With the Alpha TT10 set up I turn them on and they are locked in well under 1 minute.

I did have a problem with my original Alpha locking up, I swapped it where I bought it for another one after updates didn't help the original and the new replacement unit works excellent and has not locked up so far. Overall I'm very pleased with the Alpha.

Bought the Alpha finally got to try it out today! It is pretty simple to figure out! Seems like it will work great! Only problem I have with it is if you have small dogs with necks smaller than 11 inches the collar will be too big for the dog. They fit both my small (13 inch) and my big (16 inch) hound good I just put the long contact points on. i guess thats my only complaint is why didnt Garmin make the collars so they would tighten small enough to fit smaller hounds? Other than that I love it.

Lion Country just got in stock smaller beagle sized collars that get an inch and half smaller than the collars that are included. They allowed me to put an Alpha collar on a 4 month old puppy and she is tiny. I switched mine and they are perfect!

so far so good. just starting to use it alot the last couple weeks but really happy with it so far. i know that alot of guys are gun shy about the touch screen but i kinda like it but it has not been tested in super cold weather yet. the stock collars work fine on my big mutts but i replaced them all with the smaller version collars from lion country so i can use them on pups on up to my old dogs.
