Why ask a question like this, That F.C. means this hound can run a hare or a cotton tail. I would say this hound is very serious when he is running his game.I would say that the owner of this hound put a good amount of time into him,we need more beaglers like this.not to mention the breeding of this hound.Go watch him run, I hear he is back in michigan.
Randy,
Theres a lot of dog with FC in front of there name, but that dosen't mean I like their running style. Every dog with the Fc runs different. Hes not back in michigan hes in Indiana. I 've arrangements to watch him run a little later. If you could'nt anwser the question you should'nt replyed. Sounds like you have no idea of what you are talking about

Tim,
I won't put a 1 to 10 ranking on these, but will state I feel Tyke is good in each of the aspects you inquire about. I haven't seen him since he's came back from New England, however I have had a few folks state they felt he ran better before he went opposed to when he return. Before Ron sent him to New York, I'd seen Tyke of various outtings. Each time I felt he was a top hound and perhaps one of the best 13" males to come along in the Midwest Association in the last 10 years. I feel a good hound should be able to run anywhere. To me Tyke's proven that win several wins in the Midwest Assocation as well as wins and various places up north on hare. And you're indeed correct an FC doesn't necessarily note a quality hound. However Tyke is well deserving of his title and has proven so on numerous accounts.
As for what Tyke's producing, I've only seen one of his pups. Her name is JR's Dirty Sally. I ran against Sally almost a month ago at Franklin County's trial. Sally took a 4th to my hound's 3rd, however I thought Sally deserved a lot better. Sally's a nice hound in my opinion and probably will finish. To best of my recolection she won the following week at Blue Water. I can't say Tyke's going to produce something like Sally each time and we both know the dam has a big influence as well. However with that being said, I wouldn't hestitate to breed to Tyke. My only fault is not breeding to Tyke's sire while he was in Kentucky.
Best of luck with whatever decision you make. Keep me updated on whomever you end up breeding Christina to. In closing, whom in Indiana is kenneling Tyke at the moment?

Thats what we really need, more people breeding because of the dog not the title it has.More and more people are getting smarter about the Fc thing. When Branko puts at the bottom of a add about winning and losing with integrity you know theres got to be some politics in AKC.Not that theres not politics in all formats i'm just saying you got to check out the dog.I am the first one to admit for a long time,Fc was the most important thing to me.but like everything you have to live and learn.

Tim, You couldnt be more wrong when you say I dont Know what I am talking about. I have done the work to Finish to a hound.I did tell you to go watch the hound run, make your own opinion.
As for politics in the sport, Sure this happens. But when people like lamar wrote getting smart to that F.C. thing whats this suppost to mean? What have you done in ACK? You ever finish a hound in AKC.
In the winners pack in AKC you will watch 2 judges and a marshall give there best, and pick the hound they agree on that day or days that they feel is the winner. Not to mention 2nd thru 5 is usually pretty darn tough or they wouldnt be there. Tyke was the best hound several times and if you had ever been there you would understand what an F.C. title means.

FC
You are correct Randy. When they hang the title of FC on a hound it does mean that he met someones satandard on a given day of what a Field Champion should be. Nothing else. It doesn't mean he will find a rabbit or bring it back to the gun.
I have three pups in my kennel at present. Two are from hare hunting stock with champions up very close in the pedigree. They were highly touted and the breeder, who sold them to me, is very well respected. Neither of these pups, at close to a year old, are dependable to jump or to circle a rabbit. I have another that is five months old that I bought from Steve Corey that is doing outstanding for a pup his age. He already hunts like a machine, stays close on a check, and is relentless in his effort to run a rabbit. The difference, IMO, is Steve puts emphasis on hunting.

Randy,
I'm not going to go round and round with you about this topic. I asked if anyone had any info on Tyke, and if so could they reply to my question. You did'nt have to answer, You answered If it has FC in front of it's name it can do it all. Well that's not true. I don't breed dogs just because they have FC in front of their names. Not all Fc run my style. I breed rabbit dogs first. A lot of FC will run rabbits and everything else.If you want to breed your hounds to Fc just because that's your business. I want to run hounds that i can enjoy watching. I don't have to do any thing for the AKC, as long as I feel good about what i'm doing for the sport i'm fine.
Thanks,Tim
Not trying to offend anyone who has a FC. If you like what you have that's your business.
Happy hunting

My friend had a hound out of Tyke for at least six months or so. I can't remember what the bottom side was. The Dog's name was Doc and he was a pretty fair hound. He had above average nose, he was fast enough to run with dogs with Midwest wins, while still running the line. I should mention that he was under two years old when I saw him. He had way above the average hunt you would see at a trail. I think my friend sold him because he was just under 14" and a little frail built; he just wouldn't stand up to the rigors of trailing and training. If you just looked at him as a rabbit hound he was real solid. If you wanted to win trails he was either too big or too small, and at the age I saw him he couldn't dominate hounds that have proven to be dominant. I forgot to mention that he was the type of hound that would run behind on the line and not be flustered by being in back, but not so independent as to get so far back, that he would be out of the race.

Just curious? Who knows of an AKC Field Champ that doesn't hunt? No names please-just one they have seen pottering. I'm talking about rabbit hounds also-not slow or brace hounds.I myself don't see any. If the judges do, they are picked up. I agree with Randy, it takes something pretty special to be an AKC Champ. That still doesn't mean that they produce high quality hounds though.
