Dog Box
Which is better top storage or bottom drawer? I like the top storage, but I am afraid things will shift around in the truck and I will have to constantly get in and out of the truck bed to find things. However, I am worried the mess from inside the dogs boxes will leak and end up in the bottom drawer. So which do you prefer.
Re: Dog Box
I have a box without storage and I made a pedestal with a drawer for the box to sit on. I kind off accidentally came up with it after having a 3 hole box made extra wide. I do not have any problems with messes from the box, the only thing I worry about is rain when the cap is off in the summer but so far so good.I like it.

Re: Dog Box
I Have a Owens Bottom Stroage box and i love it no problems with anything getting in the bottom, Your not reaching over the side of your truck getting something that has slid to the front scratching the sides with a zipper or belt buckel. Thanks TBF Weir Creek Hounds

Re: Dog Box
I prefer the top storage due to where i live. With the snow and everything if you dont have a cap on your vehicle the bottom storage may freeze shut where the top storage you will always be able to open.
Re: Dog Box
I have an owens with top storage and have the tray they sell in the storage area, it keeps things semi organized, but they do move some.
Re: Dog Box
I also steered away from the bottom storage due to the freezing factor. I have had my tailgate and doors on the box freeze multiple times during coyote season let alone a bottom storage. If I lived anywhere with higher temps, less snow and ice I would defiantly own one, but for now I have the Top storage Owens. I use side lockable mid split storage crate (the kind that slide under beds) and it keeps it pretty well organized.

Re: Dog Box
I know of several people here in Mo that went from top to a bottom storage and said its one of the best things they have done... Easier to get into, they claimed it last longer then the top storage, it rattles your stuff less, harder to steal the inside contents if you leave it unlocked and few other reasons..
Mostly I keep my dogs in the trunk of my car and have never had a dog box so I suppose my opinion doesn't mean much

Re: Dog Box
Thanks for the replies. I am wanting to get a box, but I definitely wanting to get the one that serves me the best.
Re: Dog Box
i have bottom storage and have had no issues with it. it is easier to get into for my kids but they are tall enough now that a top storage would not be bad either. top storage seems better for big items like cover alls or a folding stool. never had mine freeze shut in w ky.
