BC, A 2012 Derby is a dog born between July 1, 2010 & June 30, 2011. Yours is next years Derby.

if they are still on puppy papers they will more than likely be to young. check the birth date.

hello..I have two 14 inch males..brothers..that are grandpups to one tuff ombre..they were born July 15 2010..I just have never sent the papers in. I hunted them last year and we did great. I run them about 2 or three times a week...just wanted to see how they measure up to other dogs their age. Thanks

So, would I be able to enter my two dogs in the derby..just on puppy papers? They are the correct age. Fairly long way to go...about 3 hrs...just to find out I can't run them when I get there!! Ron

We reached out to AKC on this issue.....the prefered method is to have them registered. Other clubs have allowed it this year and we will do the same. However, it is an AKC event and therefore the hounds should be registered in order to compete. Again, we will allow it this Friday but I would not bank on ever being able to do it again as this will probably be a voted on issue in the very near future.
