Jigs is the most consistent I have seen..A rabbit dog though and through.. Hunt and running the rabbit with brains.. I also like the lumberjack blood but Jigs is top of my list...

There seems to be bloodlines that cross well or complement well rather than one bloodline being consistent. I think of the Ranger Dan X Mr. T lines.....recently the Tadpole or Khaligah blood crossed with quality Midwest bitches to look good.

Individual hound selection the key, not randomly picking dogs out of bloodline.

I think the Speedy Sport stuff is pretty consistant. Not that it is my favorite but just speaking in terms of producing consistancy on how they run, I've seen direct siblings, grandpups and then great grand pups out of sport all produce the same type hound. Lots of hunt good nose they start early and mature quick, a bit over competitive for my taste, and hard headed at times and can throw a little extra pop if bred to lines that throw extra mouth. But as a whole they throw a tough dog, If breed to something that throws some level head and control you can have the best of both world. I think the problem with just looking at an individual dog when getting pups or breeding is that the dog you are looking at may not throw what he is. I think you need to see a bunch off that line siblings, grandpups, and so on too see what the line produces. One great dog may not ever throw anything. The Rangerdan stuff for me has always produced hard hunt and good nose with the exception of one or two. Really I dont have a favorite line. I'm always trying to in improve by mixing what I like and see. But what I shoot for is HARD HUNT, CLOSE AND CLEAN, GOOD NOSE, GOOD KENNEL MANNERS ............Just my opinion......DH

Best dogs I have owned or seen all had Jigs in the pedigree somewhere. I do want to try some Haunted Hill Shaker lines though.

BM Orchard, I think you will like the Shaker bred dogs!! Most of them are very consistent dogs. They are the same every time they hit the ground. Good hunt, speed, nose, and brains to put it all together. They cross well with other lines and pass those traits to their offspring.
Shaker and Striker crossed is a line that you can't argue with. All you have to do is look at what the late John Monkman and Jack Blum have accomplished!!!

Jim you say joe k bloodline, but remember he started from rangerdan. I think unless you are Branko or Mel Faust, unless you have been doing it for 40 or 50 years. A lot of guts been running dog for that long, but they don't put a lot of effort in to the breeding part of it........jmo

Out running in the coal mines as I type this, besides a quick lunch I've been running my Line bred tadpole male and my Hitman/turbo bitch. Started around six this morning. The coal mines in the summer is hell on a dog, but they haven't quit yet, sounds like to me they just getting warmer up. BAOTB. Hair or Hole.

i have sort of fell in love with the Speedy Sport line. I have a GR RCH male off him and seeing all his traits in his pups no matter the females he's bred to. It probably helps that he's a grandpup to Haunted Hill Shaker.

Collins who is the dam on your male? I forgot who said this but it has stuck to me, " You could breed Speedy Sport to a Collie and still get a rabbit dog" Thats how dominating his traits were. I have a direct daugther to Sport that I breed twice and never out of those breedings did I ever get a dud, most were well above average and had good hunt and outsanding nose. I tried to weed thrue pups to come down with one or two that ran a little cleaner and closer as most were on the edge most of the time. Anyway They say the Enemy of good is Perfection, and I might have let one go that was as good as I had gotten.......DH
