Guys I think that post is a bunch of B>S! no one in their right mind runs dogs in the heat
as it has been the last few weeks !
I ran one to death years ago running in around the high 80s' and real humid
didn't take more than 1and 1/2 hours of steady running on hare
If you are running in the humidity just feel how much more humid it is down at the level the dogs are running Particularily on cottontail where there is more thick weeds etc.
Girl you are not telling us the truth you are trying to tell us how much better your dogs are for running 14 hours in the heat all you are accomplishing is letting us know how dumb you are

Why you boys picking on a little girl for? Let's just say her story is true. Hooray for her and her dogs which she obviously loves very much. No need to lecture her about the heat. Let's just say her story is untrue, so what? No need to lecture her about telling a good story. There sure are a lot those on this site. I saw one on here the other day that said his dog ran for 24 hours in this heat. That is about 10 more than Katelyn logged and no one said a word.

bucks, I am not picking , and to be honest I could care less what somebody else does with their own property, but was just trying to open her eyes, that if she did run a dog that long in that type of heat, especially since she obviously loves her dogs, it could lead to problems one way or another.
At the end of the day, loosing a great hound is a terrible experience, as I have lost a few, and it hurts something terrible!! It is upto us as responsible dog owners to make the call what is best for our hounds!! Running in the excessive heat is like running your dogs next to a 4 lane highway that rabbits are know to cross, it is a gamble.
Again JMO. Didnt mean to pick on her.

We had a coyote hound run for an hour in this heat in a pen. He walked out of the weeds and tipped over. Luckily we saw him go down. I ran cool water on his legs and kept him alive. He was never the same after that. He basicaly lost his smarts, i will never risk it again. 70 degrees or less for me and my dogs.

Theres a better chance of the Mayans being right then a dog running 14 hours non stop on rabbits in brush in 100+ degree weather like the week you stated. I dont care if its name is Sonic or Jesus. How can you even state such a fact I havent even been at this long and I know this isnt even remotely possible. I had coyote hounds for years and ran them during the summer at night. They are used to running a lot further then any beagle at a much faster pace and they could never run 14 hours straight not even 1/2 of that in that kind of heat.

Sorry I really don't care to argue, whether your a female male mix, I really don't care I just cant stand reading ridiculous lies like this and just have to say something.

I also am curious what you are putting over the ends of your dogs tails and ears. I run mine 3-4 times a week no more then two hours a day in this heat and mine have terrible tails and ears. Would love to have them look in perfect condition after all this running like yours. You are running more then I do in a week in one night and then do that several times a week so whatever you are doing to prevent this should be mass produced.
