Casey, Come on man really, not any amount, no offence intended but I think your are kidding yourself. I am working man do not have alot of disposable income. I have had some dogs, a very few that I really would have not wanted to sell. But be real any amount, You are saying that if some oil tycoon offered you 200,000 dollars for that dog that you would say no. To me like I said no offence intended, but thats crazy that is just a dog I can replace him in time. My familys well being and good sence would have to make me sell that dog no matter how much I liked him.

Re: extra barking on a rabbit track..
I've paid a higher price for a sorry dog than I have for a good dog. Sounds crazy, but on a hunt, I bought one and when I gave him the money and we shook hands and it was mine, I quickly turned and shot it dead.
For the rest of the trip, we didn't have to put up with it backtracking and lying and messing up our dogs or hanging around me
What they are worth is how bad you want it or want it gone!

Wow to prove your point you go the distance... lol Oil tycoon??? That was funny. It's easy to replace a average dog, but a great dog its not. You are right in time a good or better dog might come along but with the way life is who knows what will happen.. So I can honestly say right now, no I wouldn't sell him to a "oil tycoon"augerhead wrote:Casey, Come on man really, not any amount, no offence intended but I think your are kidding yourself. Augerhead; some people may feel differantly about there dogs than you or myself... i saw in another thread a guy refering to his dogs just like his children.. to me thats rediculus but, they may actually feel that way....i myself take huntin and dogs for what they are, a hobby and a sport..... i watched my Dad turn down 1700 for a grade male in the 80;s.... 1 weak later he got rattlesnake bit and died....i aint gonna do that, if they offer enough ,,, they own the dog...maybe thats why some of these guys hunt these babbling idiots or a dog that wont bark period,,,or maybe one that wont hunt... maybe they have a genuine love that wont let them cull the hound...if this is the case it would definately give me a piece of mind.....

Re: extra barking on a rabbit track..
Give me $200,000 and I will replace any dog with a better one in less than an hour!!
Re: extra barking on a rabbit track..
So Casey you are saying you woudn't take 200,000 dollars for your dog!!
Ok I am not going to challange your word, but this is very intersting to me. Maybe this is why there is so many differances on this board, If I ever had a dog that I thought as much of as you think of yours, maybe some of those little faults that aggrivate my world I could over look. I could think of him more as a family member as some thing that was not replaceable. I would like to say one thing to you though, If you ever get offered 200,000 take it I won't tell, and call me I will find you one to replace him and let you keep 400 or 500 hundred.

Re: extra barking on a rabbit track..
This young dog is gonna be a nice gun dog. For the criteria of being a rabbit dog in my eyes this pup already fits the bill, he will be my foundation for the future. .He us not for sale as of right now for any amount of money. I do not feel these dogs are my children, only a companion for the adventures in the thickets. Why would I want to sale him now or even later when he has made his keep. He is vy far the best young dog and the most intelligent (rabbit wise) I have been around. I think its a sense of pride and respect to your kennel and yourself when you decide to let a nice one go. I personally feel this pup is the foundation of my kennel in the near future and I sure in the heck do not want to let him go and then try to find him again.
I do agree with dog that money rules the world for the most part, but it will not rule me.

You take a young dog like mine and can beat him two days in a row then I will give him up for free to a young Beagler to start out with.

Re: extra barking on a rabbit track..
BOYS THE CONCEPT THAT A MAN CAN STAND HIS GROUND AND HIS WORD IS HIS BOND IS JUST ABOUT LOST IN THE WORLD OF TO DAY, BUT WHEN FOUND IT IS STILL RESPECTED BY SOME. IF YOU HAVE A HOUND THAT I LIKE AND SAY HE'S NOT FOR SALE I WON'T ASK YOU AGAIN AS I RESPECT YOUR WORD. I HAVE PERSONALLY TURNED DOWN WAY MORE THAN A DOG WAS WORTH IN THE FIELD, OR ON THE MARKET. WHEN I SAY NOT FOR SELL, I MEAN NOT FOR SALE, AND RESPECT THE OTHER MAN THAT TAKES THIS STANCE.
Re: extra barking on a rabbit track..
alabama john, How about inviting me down for a hunt. I'll bring 4 or 5 of my dogs, I could use the money.

Gwyoung,
You better bring money as you would probably be shooting mine!
What a contest I've started, "whose is the sorriest"! Now I could compete in that.
Thanks for the laugh!!!!

Did I ever receive an answer from BlackBart if I could see his hound? I got lost in all this!!
I will be in southern WV later next month(traveling to see dogs) and am always happy see hounds that can add to what I have, if indeed it will add to what I have.
