opinions needed!

Post by bodetis »

just got a 3 year old female from a friens of mine , i had her one day and went out to her pen today and it looked like a crime scene in her pen. now i know this may sound gross, but what it looked like to me is that some body to a bowl of roman noodles and dumped out on the pen, it also had blood and kinda looked like mucus to. first thing i thought was worms but it looked kinda smashed . nothing was moving. i cleaned it up and went back out a bit ago and it looked like pieces of fatty bright red spots . iv known him for years and have gotten a couple dogs, this man is straight as they come, and when i got her she was running around and acting fine an this was one day ago, now this , i feed sportmix 24 20, not sure if it was dog food but im serious when i say it looked like a bowl of smashed roman noodles. opinions please!

Tapeworms? I had bitch that I wormed with Safe Guard. I thought she was fine. Then I saw something similar to what you witnessed. I'm not convinced that Safe Guard kills the head of the tapeworm. It kills the tape segments but the head stays attached to the intestine. Then the tape worm continues to rebuild.

Sounds like tape worms to me. Get the PPO all wormer from either of the fellows mentioned above.

Tape is a flat segmented worm, "noodles" sounds like round worms.
Maybe he had wormed her before you came and got her that day and she is expelling the worms now???
Maybe a combo of hook and round worms.

Sorry, you are right Patch but the PPO all wormer will still kill these.

Whip worms. They are in a group held together by bloody looking mucus. Safe Guard three days in a row, then again in ten days, then again in another ten days. Good luck.

If she was dumping out something like worms in that kind of volume she probably got wormed, easy enough to call and check with the previous owner to see if he did worm her before leaving. If he did not worm the heck out of her or is you are concerned about this bring a stool sample to your vet.

good luck, keep us posted what you find out.
