A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
EARL BRUNER wrote:Bobby & Jim i remember that female. i tryed to buy her and do with her what should have been done. she was not the only dog that done that. i was on a cast with a dog one time that cold trailed for 2 hrs back then it was 2 hrs cast and i asked Sammy Wells if that dog done that all the time and he said it would do it in august at 90 degrees at 2;00 in the after noon. Sam did not own that dog by the way. he said he tryed to buy it also.
Good stuff, I thought I was the only one that fantasized about buying a dog and "do with it what should be done". No names please.....all the ones on my list are still living yet.
My ol buddy Lynn Perkins had a bitch called Run And Gun Lucy Lu. I ran her for him in Indiana, The only time i ever seen
Jeff Brown Puke, she cut the pack too death . Come too think of it i almost got into a fist fight over that little bitch.Ya know this topic has stirred some pretty cool memories of some good ol times and some swinging azz hounds, I know a Lot of the hounds mentioned and they could litterally make a race interesting or blow it sky high.

She'd slip out on a check and by the time she opened 75 to 100 yards away, the other hounds couldn't hear her and she was gooooone.
i had a black n tan male that would slip out on a check be 75 to 80 yards before he opened and if rabbit crossed the road he never tried to track it down the road he hiot the brush and most times he would pick it up 75 yards in front of the other dogs trialed him twice in ukc got 2 seconda first looser both times but one thing about ole duece if there was a rabbit around he would find it in any kind of weather big growling howl fine gun dog he was i should have trialed him more i belive he would have finished out but i quit trialing
I used to own a dog called Flag, He was a red dog and had the big Flag tail. He would destroy a pack of hounds till a deer would come up and he was gone . I took him to ohio to grand nationals years ago. He was killing some dogs by about 4 checks he hit a deer and left the country. 3 days later i get a phone call and he was found 28 miles away. He would cut and slash but man he could run a rabbit.I won reserve hound of the year with him. I have hated red dogs to this day. County Line Crusin Flag.
