Running dogs during turkey season in Missouri illegal?

Ran into an old buddy and was talking about dogs. He told me that it was illegal to run dogs during turkey season. Been searching and have not found anything. Called local conservation agent and left a message for him to call me back. Does anyone know off hand?

Yes, and we're proposing a new law that it is illegal to turkey hunt while the mushrooms are growing...or move the turkey season up 3 weeks...
We'll never get enough laws because we all can't seem to get along...

I've never heard of a law like that in Mo.I do know that some of our CA don't allow offseason running for periods of times of ground bird nesting.As far as private land,I don't believe there's such law.

Not sure if its illegal, but I wouldn't go on conservation land until after 2:00 if it isn't. Turkey season closes at 1:00 each day.
If you do go I would wear hunter orange like deer season and have bells on your dogs. Just to be on the safe side.
Hate for anyone or their dogs to get shot by turkey hunter. Hunters are supposed to clearly identify their target before shooting, but accidents happen every year. JMO

Well, the agent just called me back and confirmed that it is illegal. He explained that they do this in order to keep the dogs from disturbing turkey hunters. Real nice guy and very professional.

I tell you,...if we have to accommodate many more people and their special interest, there won't be but little time left to run a hound. Dang these noisy hounds!!! They gotta be disturbing the bird watchers too!!!
Thank God, the fish haven't been found to quit biting when they make noise...

in which counties? cause this was brought up last year on here and in my area it is legal from what I can remember last year when this topic was brought up.

I agree S R Patch. Deer season alone in Misouri is forever. Don't get me wrong I like to deer hunt, but we have
archery, rifle, youth, muzzel loader, doe only and another youth season. It used to be 10 days and you had to
draw for doe tags. Now you can buy as many as you want for $7 and hunt deer from Sept into January.

I didn't know it was illegal. I thought you just couldn't run dogs on convervation land until after 1:00. That is
when you have to stop hunting in turkey Spring. I guess I had better call my agent.

If that is true what about running dogs in fall on conservation land. Fall turkey season opens Oct 1st, same as
rabbit season. The only difference is you can hunt fall turkeys all day.

I know for sure we can't run dogs on coyote during turkey season day or night. There is nothing that says you cant run beagles though. I looked online and in my handbook.

He did not specify if this was state wide or just for Washington county. From his explanation, it was just for spring season, not fall.

but he would not recommend doing it before 1.pm
i would not go in on state land before late after noon.
and may not then. missing a couple runs wont hurt me.
but i would run privet ground with no problem.
he said as long as the c/area allows rabbit hunting your good to go. ( some do not)
but here is the number for jeff city should anyone want to call.

I am going to call Jeff City also. I am not talking bad about the agent, I am telling you he was as nice and professional as you could have been, but he did tell me that it is illegal. He even thank me for calling him first prior to making that mistake. Well, thanks Owl Creek for the information.

I know here in nc bowhunters own everything. Even when i ran coonhounds there use to be a lot of "lost" hounds. thankfully its illigal here to remove electronic collars. These deer and turkey hunters need to cool down. And i also feel sorry for the california guys. heard the hsus made it illegal for you to hunt big game. beagles are probly next on there list.
