He Has A Nose!!!!!!

Post by beaglerof4 »

Man was I excited today. The Greenbay x Magnum Suzie male that was giving me trouble not scenting and wouldnt leave my sight is no longer giving me that trouble. I took him out yesterday for the first time since that site chase I gave him on that wild rabbit I trapped a week ago . I seen a difference as soon as I let him out of the box this time. He started searching like he never has before and even got in his first barks on some scent yesterday but nothing to special. Well he hit the bushes even harder today and even jumped 2 rabbits on his own  . Im so glad I could get him started and he is making a 360 degree turn from when I got him a few weeks ago. What impressed me the most is his instinct to know where the rabbits are and isnt affraid to get in the thick briars even though he really has no clue what he is doing :D .

Both of them had trouble running it in this field and it crossed the road so I had to call them off.

Remember to take it easy with him. The next day could be different and could be back to his own ways...... I believe at one time he probably a good dog until the previous owner let him go to cap. You fire him back up.

He was the dog with the yellow collar. Your right the dog with the orange collar was doing all the work but that is what this dog needs. He needs to be pulled into some tracks at this stage in his training and I am just happy he is showing progress and using his nose. I said I would make him rabbit crazy and now he knows what to look for and where to look I think it will only get better from here.. Thanks Everyone. I will keep you updated with his progress.

Well took him out again today and WOW! He did a awesome job and was in 2 good runs. He came out with a bloody face and ears today from hitting the briars so hard. Cant believe how much he has turned around these past few days and looks like he has some real potential. Im pretty sure he had a really good time today also :D . I got some decent video and will post it later when it's finished uploading. Thanks again to everyone that said to give him some more time because it's really paying off now

You could be right but.. I think if the previous owner seen what he is doing now then he wouldnt have been for sale to start with  . I knew from day one when I took this dog out that he hadnt been ran right but that's ok cause he is on his way now I think.

I know a few people that will think something is wrong with a dog if it is priced cheap but will jump all over a dog with a high price tag and others won't try to start a dog once it gets over 1 year old. Good luck with Gunner and keep him in the woods.
