Dog voice change?

Post by bill huttozac »

I have a young female that runs and packs well. When she barks in the kennel, her voice is a strong, clear chop. When running, she has a high pitched yip. I think that she just too excited about the track. Wondering if her running voice will change as she gets older.

I have seen some dogs as they gain confidence and mature that they will bring out thier big dog bark so to speak!

Thanks for your comments. They give me hope that her "big dog voice" willl come about. At the rate she is progressing huntwise, she will be one nice hound. Just needs to find her mouth.

I had a young female that I sold that had a high pitched chirp. When the guy told that he had named her "Birdie" I thought is was because of her mouth. He said no he named after another bitch he had owned years before named "Birdie". He said she had a good mouth. To my surprise she now has a big bawl moth.

I love to hear a bawl mouthed dog drive a bunny. The mother of my young female has a bawl mouth and I am a loss as to how the high pitched voice came about. Sure hope it changes with experience and age.

Gave a little bitch away about 10 years ago that only had a little squeek mouth. She had all the other qualities that you normally looked for but without a good mouth she was not a keeper. I gave her to man in Henrietta, OK. and he named her MD Gay Squeek, he called me about a month or two latter and said he got to hearing a big squall mouth in the pack and it turned out to be Squeek. He later finished her as a P.P. ch. I have a really nice bitch now that started out with a very poor mouth, sort of a yip yip yip. I was very disappointed as she had it all except for the mouth but after giving Squeek away I decided to keep her a little longer. A little later i was giving her some solo time and she started a rabbit and made a complete circle and never got more than a excited little puppy yip and i was very disappointed and figured this was as good as it would get. About this time she apparently jumped the rabbit and caught sight of it and she let out a great bawl mouth and has never used the puppy mouth since, I hope you have the simular luck with yours. keep em running

I have a female out of Let er Rip. When she was just starting out she sounded like Bevis, or maybe it was Butthead, laughing. huhhuh huhhuh. Real soft. Now if you dont know its her, she sounds like a big male with a hard chop. GIve her some time.
