One thing we learned if they are not in long enough they will aquire some type of bug or worm that will start to eat at the dried animal. If this happens the specimen can be saved by simply putting it into a standard freezer for two weeks or so. All animals should be soaked first in a freeze drying solution before freeze drying.

Here are some animals I have freeze dried and on display at my home.
Weasel
Hare
Red & Grey Squirrel
Pine Martin
Chipmunk
Baby skunk
Baby raccoon

Had some problems with Raccoon, Skunk, and Pine Martin. All good now.

BuschBound they are called dermacide beetles and can also infect regular skin mounds, they eat hair and skin.
They are also known as museum beetles, Taxidermist sometimes use them to clean skulls.

Nice!!.....I would love to get some done but the mounting cost has always stopped me but they have to be hard to skin and I could see where they would have a lot of time wrapped up in them!!... Thanks for sharing!!
