A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
I enjoyed that video. Nice to see a rabbit run for awhile. The last couple weekends have had rabbits sitting tight and close to the hole for me. We ran a new place in Braxton Co. recently and had five chases for about 5 minutes each. There were too many rock piles and groundhog holes to stand gaurd at. Almost feel bad for carrying a gun lately. You seeing many rabbits around or is it just me? I mainly hunt Lewis, Upshur, Braxton, and Taylor. Told my Dad Saturday that shooting a rabbit would be like killing a unicorn. Places where we would jump 10 or 12 in a day are producing 2 or 3. Good looking hounds, my kind of dogs. Smooth running, honest, line control, and look good to boot. Keep em running.
We think it is almost a crime to shoot a rabbit now. We have not carried a gun now for weeks. Places we used to jump 8 or 10 rabbits are gone. We have a couple places in Johnstown that were really good and now we can't jump a rabbit. We are talking about getting our license for Ohio. That is a long way to go to rabbit hunt but we were there a couple weeks ago and they do have some rabbits. We stripped our beagle club of all trees and hope to get it back in shape. The problem is where are we going to get rabbits to stock it.
