gwyoung, I've often wondered about how often most of us worm our hounds. I look at them no different than coyotes or wolves in that those animals live off of everything from fresh kills that include gut piles to scavenged food they find in the ditch and they don't have some vet running around deworming them once a month. Heartworms, yes that needs to be treated preventatively but sometimes I think some of the other stuff is a little over kill.
Jakeboy, when I worm I use the equimax same as gwyoung.
dog ate a gut pile, deworm?

A good ole country vet said to my uncle once, "Why worm them when they don't have symptoms?". I agree with this, I use Ivomec in summer for fleas and ticks, but why treat something you don't know they have? If there stools look normal, coats look normal, they act normal why worm them. The vet also said this, " A wormer is a poison, enough to kill a worm. Do you want to put that in there system any more than you have too?" Again, I agree. JMO
Do you take high cholesterol pills if you don't have high cholesterol? I don't see why treating without seeing symptoms would be beneficial. JMO
