Garmin DC-50

Post by Swampman »

Anyone hear about Garmin coming out with a DC-50 collar?

My bear hunting friend brought it up in conversation last weekend but that is the first I've heard of it.

Doesn't exsist unless he has strict prove large to the prototype and he would defiantly not be allowed to share it with the public. There's dc 20s 3"s and 40s

I found this:

"We have had a few people question whether or not Garmin is currently planning on making a DC -50 collar. We have spoken with Garmin directly regarding this question and our rep at Garmin has verified that currently there are no plans for producing a DC-50 collar. "

Madcatter,
I added the "in conversation" after his post to alleviate any confusion.

He was telling me that Garmin came out with an upgrade for the DC-40 antanae.
The original ones have a very small solid antanae wire inside the plastic coating that ends up breaking at the base.
He said the new ones are a twisted cable wire inside the plastic coating.

He said he wasn't getting any range, but once he changed them out it really improved.

I lost signal for the first time today, three times. My dog was never more the 1 1/4 miles from me. It was never more then a few seconds but still annoying. Id say this setup is still 1000% better then any wildlife type system!!! Saves me so much time and gas and energy you wouldnt believe it!! If you are still hunting with a wildlife type system you are cheating yourself. Sell it and get a garmin you will wonder why you ever had anything else. If i had a differet setup I would have wasted two hours today by the time I would have realized my male took a deer, figured out which direction he went drove there located again, drove again, located again, walked in, caught him, walked back to the truck and got on with my day. Instead I drove to where he was heading and caught him running three deer(one of which was a 170" ten pointer) and caught him at the road. Im telling you if you dont like this setup you have never owned a wildlife tracking system. I can deal with losing signal for a few seconds at a time. Greatest tracking system ever: Garmin 320 with the DC-40 collar, END OF STORY!!

i dont have 40,s i have the 30,s never have had any problems at all. i dont call loseing signal for 3 seconds a problem lol..

are they gonna make a 50 sure they will ,,,you can guarantee somebody is working on it , they will never stop they will be 60-70 lol.. they want our money and they get it by saying its better ,improved.. whatever..

might be a while but its coming you can bet on it and win.

Darren, I still think it's your handheld, not your collars. It doesn't make sense all of your collars will do the same thing. Unless your the unlucky recipient of 3 pieces of junk. Next time you run with someone that has a garmin, link the collar to their unit too, see if they can carry the signal further out than you. If they can, its your handheld.

For what cost they should have no problems.
I have no problems when I link to dc-30 collars and drive around d coonhunting.
Heaving one that works periodically is like buying a new car with dents and cigarette burns on the seat.I wouldn't accept that.for those that do maybe you'll wanna buy my collars when I dump them cause junk is junk

The original DC 40s are garbage everyone has figured that out. The newest model ones are fine and the DC 30s have always been great. I have two DC 30s I am getting rid of now to get the new model 40s so I can run the Trash Breaker and DC 40s on the same collar. Three collars on a beagle are a little ridiculous lol.

Darren,
I figured he added after because I didnt recall seeing it lol.

Big game houndsmen ensure has plenty of complaints about "the new" anything from garmin.
Good luck with yours but only being a year old and getting 20-30away hours a week on them I guess I expected more.
I am gonna do a master reset.lose all stored info but it worked better a year ago
