Really good year this far, great weather and very good scenting conditions on about 75% of our hunts. Averaging about 8-10 jumps with about 2 taken for the pot. Good hunting to all!!

Went out last Saturday and jumped 8 killed 3 and missed one. The dogs have been doing great this year. Worst thing about it is that I only get to hunt on Saturdays and sometimes not then. Same as always around here. Most places hold very few rabbits but every once in awhile we get into a honey hole. The only places I have to hunt is public land which gets hunted to death.

Like Jeremy said we are doing about as good as normal. We had one real good hunt where we jumped probably 25 and killed 6. Shoulda killed our limit of 10 but we were pretty poor shots that day! As for the rest of the hunts they have been average. 5-10 jumps with a couple kills. And by the way I don't think Jeremy would've killed any yet if my Boomer dog hadn't been showin his dogs how it's done! LOL! :D

Rabbits are hard to come by, Hunting pretty hard and we are averaging about 9-10 rabbits jumped per day. we generally get two or three that hole right away ( females) and the rest have been giving us pretty good runs. The dogs jumped 7 today and they were all pretty good runs with a couple going out of hearing and back. we shot at all seven , killing six of them. We stopped at three different places , which is common as it is becoming real hard to jump this many rabbits in one area.

Where is everybody hunting here in WV? Do you hunt mainly public lands or private land? We hunt public land pretty much all season long. We have a few places on private land to hunt but just a couple and they are not great places to hunt but never the less a place to hunt.

After last winter I never thought I would say it but we need some snow! The underbrush is too thick. I have had some great runs but shooting has been tough. I am running some young dogs and need to put some hair in their mouths!

Well, yesterday 1-7-12 was by far the worst day we have had this season. We jumped one rabbit that went about 200 yards straight to a hole. Did anyone else hunt around the western part of the state Saturday? And if so did you do better than us. I am not sure if the place we were has been hunted hard or if it was just a bad day.

We only jumped 2 yesterday, good runs by both, but only two. We had nine dogs down and they hunted hard the whole time we were out. Wind was high on us and it was quite warm. I wonder if this unseasonably warm weather has sent some of these rabbits into heat cycles early, I don't know. They did not seem to be out yesterday where we were??
