Looking for some San Juans or equivalent in WV or OH.

Post by BCBeagles »

I am looking to get some San Juan Rabbits to turn loose around my house for some up and coming young hounds. I will buy several and drive a reasonable distance within WV or OHIO. I am in North Central WV. Not wanting to go more than about 1.5 to 2 hrs in any direction. I am looking for 6-8 now and probably will take that many later in the winter to early spring. My supplier is not raising them anymore. They do not have to be full blooded San Juans, but something equivalent that is pretty tough. I have about 3 acres of good cover by my house. Thanks for any help on this!!!

Jim,
Get ahold of Reggie McGrady. He live's in Lester WV. You can contact him on the UKC board. He has or knows where you can get some rabbits.

Check the weekly North Central WV bullitin board paper in pet - animal section. There is a fellow on Rt. 19 south of clarksburg that had a pile of them a couple months back. He had them advertised about every week. I'm pretty sure it was a 745 # and his name was Ed Davidson I think. Said he was the dad of the Davidson Brother Band.

Ed Davidson doesn't have any. His does didn't take last time due to weather. He said he'd have another litter in 3 weeks. I got 2 from Donna Chipps on down the road in Laurel Park. Just a few minutes up Rt 19 from Davidson on Buffalo Lake Rd. Me and a buddy are stocking up a starting pen for some pups

I had them loose on my 4 acres for 2.5 years. They lived thru a real nasty winter here with no issues. I am paying 10 per rabbit. Mine reproduced while on my property. I saw at a least 4-5 litters born.

Me and a buddy built it in Hodgesville in Upshur Co. Just finished it time for Christmas tree collecting!! They make great brush piles and crappie structure.
