Another Garmin question

Post by crossfire731 »

I know on the DC 40's they say to turn them on for 15 min. and let the satlite find them. Has any one turned them on before you load your dogs then after 15min. put them on your dogs load your dogs up and drive 20 miles (or so) then be able to kick your dogs out and not have to wait when you get to the briars?
Just wandering if any one has tried it?

I have done this, also when changing hunting spots during the day.The only thing I do is recalibrate the compass before I let the dogs out.I didnt do this once and the compass was wierd,I didnt notice it at low driving speeds but at 60 mph it didnt work right. Al

I always take the extra step to "Identify Dog" for each after I turn everything on and before I strap the dogs up; seems to get everything going quick

My collars usually sync up in under a minute. I'll sync them just before the spot while driving.

When we move spots I press dog, menu, pause all tracking. Press resume at new spot and they pick right back up.
