I'll second that Jeff

To answer Jamie's original question, Yes I rabbit hunt, usually as many weekends as I can during season. And still run 4-5 days a week in the off season. I travel a lil bit as well to other states and kill some as well. Even if trials ceased to exist, I would still be killin rabbits and runnin dogs.

As most stated i have sorta slacked off in the killing dept but have aired my share work and kids get in the way of alot but now that the boys are packing the heat ol dad just likes a watching the fur fly, most of the killing is when Jon Ortuba comes down from Ny and brings his little contender gun. Killing rabbits is still fun just harder to run when dead.

I have kenneled up with Bobby Vest and just keeping 1 at a time too polish off line control and handling, doing all i can which aint much maybe 4 days a week a couple hours at a time.Kinda hard working 70 hr weeks and raising 3 kids and a ol ugly woman but i am trying.
When the moment of truth arrives, the point of preparation has passed.

Yes, I hunt, and take as many friends and family members hunting in a year that the calendar will hold. I don't shoot many myself in a year, but like seeing friends and family members take some home for the table. When I was younger, I use to supply my grandfather with as many rabbits as his freezer would hold because he loved them. Recently, I took a 16 year old boy rabbit hunting, and he downed two. He had a good time and it reminded me why I have been scraping kennels for over 25 years! (We don't jumpshoot, ever.)

I run my hounds every chance I get year 'round. Family takes precedent over the dogs, so I don't get to run as much as I would like, or use to. I do not have a running pen nor means to one, nor big land to let them roam, so when my dogs run, I am with them.

Good topic!

My name is Earl Meade or most call me little e. Yes I hunt as much as I can. Either me or my dad is running dogs about everyday of the week. I plan on hunting a lot more this year. I killed maybe about 20 rabbits last year my dad a lot less than that. We don't have a lot of good running spots so try not to kill too many where we condition dogs during the week.

Yes I rabbit hunt.

I didn't kill a single rabbit last year. I don't go until after deer season and I am only off 1 day every other week besides Sunday (Communists of Va won't let us hunt on Sundays). I run more in the spring, summer, and fall because I can go after work. I try to hunt 3-4 times a week.

I Run quite a bit most months 3 or 4 times a week. October and November I dont run much. I dont want to kill a Deer hunter over a dog.

Yes I gun Hunt, but only kill rabbits away from home. I try to kill a few in Michigan and Missouri each year. I probably kill 10 or so a year. If I go an hour or so away from home I may shoot a couple., or take a kid and let them bang around some.

I run as much as possible 3 to 4 days a week. June, July, and August not as much just here and there.

I gun hunt! There was 196 killed in front of my dogs last year. Do not really do any killing around home try to travel to do my killing. A lot of deer leasses where I am invited after Jan 1st last day of deer season. I have owned a pack of Rabbit Dawgs since I was 12 yrs old. I am 38 yrs old now. So yes I will always gun hunt.

I run dogs year round. Mostly March to October about 3 or 4 evenings a week. I run some dogs for friends that are busy with their work or family activities. I love running young dogs a seeing them gain confidence in small packs.
I do still rabbit hunt and we hunt mostly on Saturdays and Holidays. I also mix in a few Friday afternoon hunts when we get off work on time. We kill some rabbits, but mostly hunt away from home. Like Crabtree I don't run much when the deer hunters are in the trees. I personally probably shot 8 or 10 rabbits last year. We don't jump shoot or quick shoot and hunt cut overs with small groups of people so it is tough to kill a boat load. Some days we hunt with land owners and their kids and shoot more rabbits. We seldom hunt a spot more than once a year.
Where's the earth shattering kaboom ?

Yes i rabbit hunt. That is why i own beagles. I don`t own a beagle that can not bring a rabbit to my gun. I do not kill very many because i don`t kill the rabbits where i run all year long.

I try to run no less then 4 days a week. With my new job it is hard to run like i used too. I work no less then 64 hours a week.

I gun hunt judged a lot of ARHA hunts 80's early 90's but wise about where I shoot rabbits usually deer clubs with friends like Lee Cockman, Steve Hawkins, etc. I have been known to run dogs all day then run another pack all night or leave a hound or two out to solo. I run barring snakey hot weather every day but rarrely on Sundays (go 2 church)unless I attend a trial out of town.I live 8-13 hours from the mwgda style of hounds I have to trial. Why someimes I will sell my better dogs to those who can trial. We are very blessed to even have rabbits to run with the proliferation of not only a popualtion of people but predators anti hunters, and some big game hunters thinking beagles will run their deer off. Here you have to stay away from the deer woods until january 2 the day after it ends(deer season) or have your own lease or pen(s) Now here in NC written permission is required to go on any land you dont own in many counties(new law), and some rabbits run big.Life for the houndsman is getting complicated for sure unlike the days of old. A lot of deer doggers turn loose from the highway on to posted land then get back on their lease to kill the deer so it has poed a lot of land owners as they often still hunt.So now rabbit hunters get the shaft. They are some responsible hunters out there not all are bad but a few rotten apples will ruin the rest.Last couple years my running is not 24-7 as my health is not as good as use to be but still get dogs out 3-4 x week.Trial prospect often more solo or braced.

UJohnny Williams yes ROWCO Kennels rabbit hunts, that is our purpose of having rabbit dogs. We base the dogs we run based on how they do as gundogs. We love to trial as well, but we believe the purpose of a trial is to determine the best rabbit dog so that the breed can be improved for hunting.we run year round, but during the gun season we try to go as much as 2 or 3 times a week and a good trip we wil kill 4 to 10 rabbits. I think running a rabbit to the gun should be the ultimate goal, and if the dogs do something at a field trial that is just gravy!
