Pine Lakes you were right about Cedar Swamp Ripper. If you hunted him 3 days in a row you had to lay the dog up he was tore up so bad. He would have hunted until he killed himself. I had one out of him that was the same way. It seemed like every time I took him out he would do serious damage to himself. I guess I would have to say I have never seen anything that would hunt with them.

Pete's Gin Runner (Branko's Red River Runner X Glomski's Gin). Just a young dog, but hunts super hard and seems to always find a bunnie for me.

Not saying it because i own him but i've seen very few dogs that could out hunt Moon (if any). More than welcome to watch him anytime.

Rufus is a little hard core, but so is his line of dogs. the ol ripper dog was a tuff sob and he threw it in his pups.
if somone were to ask where a hard hunting male or female was at i'd say good luck with that. today they dont reward a dog that hunts they only give them strikes and no jumps so everyboby wants check/track dogs but to each there own. if they cant jump it they cant run it.i would love to see a dog that had no fear in its eyes no quit in their heart and no respect for their bodys.

I have a male that is crazy hard huntin dog. His name is Bordercreeks Mr Truman, Out of Little Cedar River Billy C and Little Cedar River Dinah. This dog hates snowshoes and will do anything to run them down. He is an old man now at 15 but still hunts, killed some hare over him last year. When he was in his prime he was unstopable. One icy day we had a new guy come up to run Hare I told him to stay home because of the conditions but he insisted on running even tho it was nothing but pure ice. Well I never would of guessed the hounds could run so good I would of bet my paycheck that it was going to be bad runnin. Truman ran all day we shot 9 hare and at the end of the day we saw Truman run a Hare by us and he was pure blood red from head to toe I had to chase him down a just about tackle him. He was cut real bad I had to take him to the vet because his gums were all white. We had to sew him back up and give him 2 or 3 bags of fluid. The vet said it was a good thing that I brought him in when I did or he would of been dead in a couple of hours from loss of blood and hypothermea. I think thats a hard huntin Beagle!!

Tom, that hound sounds like something a guy could build a kennel around.

I have to throw it out there and this is line may have lacked in some areas but hunt and was NOT where they lacked and that is the BOLDSTROKE line, I have seen alot of boldstroke dogs go and owned a good ol hunting sites buddy that would tear a country mile up looking for a rabbit! That dog was always first in the box for a hunting trip!!

I have to say the hardest hunting male I have ever seen or hunted would be Bill Wilson's Rowdy dog. He doesn't get the recognition he deserves

Bobby did Rip produce anything? I purchased him to breed to my female out of FC Northway Spur X FC Colby Hill Donna but it never happened unfortunately. I know Rufus wouldn't part with any of the females he had out of Rip and they seemed to be his foundation for quite some time.

Here's an example of his hunt. Eddie Williams Tuna dog is a darn good hunter and would be hard to beat(I've personally seen it), but it would take 2 or 3 Tuna's to hunt like Ripper. The dog would actually kill himself within a few days if not given a day off. On top of that he was a nice dog that could run a rabbit to the gun. He had a few places in LP in New York before I got him. Paul Komorny told me that the man who owned him ran him just after a rain on top of snow that pretty much removed every pad on his feet. I guess it was gruesome. Just another example of the neglect for self that dog had.
