i agree, but the only way to see if a dog is a jump dog is to hunt with it. titles tell you a dog can run well in someones opinion , but no way to tell about a jump dog except talk to people to see if it is worth your time to go watch it.it seems there are alot of opinions about good running dogs but everybody knows when they see a jump dog. i always say give me 4 jump dogs and 1 that can well and you can kill all the rabbits you want.i stated a couple opinions and hope i dont get slammed for it :hammer:

HELL YA! I love'em. When you got a dog that produces rabbits anytime you take them out, under any conditions, you got a keeper for as long as they live. I love it when I get home from running or hunting and talk to one of my buddies that "couldn't get a jump all day". I almost feel sorry for them.lol.

ron i agree but ive had a 5% dog she could jump rabbits like crazy but would get so excited she couldnt run worth a hoot, never grew out of this but she was always a keeper in spite of this. mud never said me or anyone ever had this. it was just a wish list.

The majority of jump dogs I have seen (only two were mine) were not full beagles.

the best that I have ever seen in my lifetime was part basset, part english coondog, and part bird dog. it was one crazy looking dog. I think that the dad was part coondog and part pointer. The mom was a basset. The thing could not run a rabbit much, but would jump more than any beagle that I have been with. (it would also tree squirrels)
That was one crazy looking dog. Long ears, ticked up like a spotted bird dog, and a pink nose.
