Beagles: Pets or Tools

I voted tool for what ever bearing it has on this thread. All I can say is You are getting old and you need to do more huntin n get your mind off this foolishness of stirin up things.

MIne are pets. I got a beagle to help me and my boys rabbit hunt. I inteded it to be a house pet that I could hunt with. I now have two hunting dogs that make good house pets. The are not allowed on the furniture, food from the table, or in my bed, (they each have there own on the floor). I did not intend to run rabbits with them year round when I started this but I do run them pretty much year round, and quite often do not take a gun with me during the season. They are a good size house dog and easy to train for the house and take care of.

i keep my tools in the box but does that mean that i love them any less? They get more of my time then my family gets. They run at least twice a week and I spend as much time workin around and cleanin kennels. The family loves them all as much as i do but olso they know that when a dog goes out hunting, it doesnt mean its comin home.too many things could happen god forbid. or he could get sold,lol..

My wife and kids love to play with my dogs and treat em like pets and I love em, give em the best care I possibly can. That being said, they are here to serve me as hunting dogs and won't be fed at my house if they don't do what I bought them to do. We have a lap dog inside and a big yard dog so no more free passes lol.
