I took my 10 month old pup out Sunday from 5pm to 8pm. He did really well; the last rabbit he was on he circled about 5 times, before I pulled him off it. But, when I did he fell over; not thinking much of it I just rubbed his belly and leashed him. We walked about 50 yards, and he just collapsed (now I’m scared)! I tried to pick him up but he howled. He lay their panting with his tongue lying on the ground. After rubbing his belly and trying to pick him up a few more times he finally gave in. I carried him about 200 yards to a small stream where he lapped up some water. I checked on him about 10 times tonight and he seems to be doing alright.
It was warm out (between 70 and 75), but I take him out about 4 to 5 times a week in similar conditions. He always has fresh water and food. Also, there is always water where we run.
Any thoughts on what caused this or how to avoid it? I was thinking of salt tablets.
Exhaustion!??!!?
