I love to rabbit hunt but as augerhead stated it's not about killing them as it used to be when I was younger. If I got a dog that I have to feed a tailgate full of rabbits every time out, I don't want it. If my dog will circle and circle and circle a rabbit but only get maybe two in it's teeth all year then why do I have to kill a tailgate full...because I can? I can only eat a couple at a time and I'm certainly not using them to supplement feeding a family of 7 kids like when I was young so as I've aged I see no sense to pile the tailgate full. Boys, those pictures are like Shania says "they don't impress me much!" I'd much rather set on a log and listen to the dogs talking in a good rabbit race rather than the pop of the ole shotgun and then the silence. I have nothing against folks taking game but I see nothing impressive about a tailgate piled up with dead rabbits and I certainly don't know what I'd do with several hundred a year. I now tromp the field with a 410 pistol and that's plenty deadly enough for me and it gives the young dogs the opportunity to get used to the gun as in my eyes it's all about them anyway.

LMAO, you guys crack me up, who cares if so and so kill and so in so dont ? Unless they are killing them on YOUR property who really cares ?
I feed my dogs a few as in 5-6 a year as a treat, daily feed is Black Gold, would you work all day everyday for no check ? If you were to get a little extra would you work harder ?

I like to Go to the mines but anymore its like going to Walmart. I at least try to go with a local or too. Rabbit hunting has been a blast but with a kill em all Attitude.I think the last laugh will be on You.

when I start seeing low numbers of rabbits then I will know I have to slow down and I do have a couple places I do not shoot rabbits at because it is not aloud by the owners so I will always have a good run spots ....Happy hunting /running to all

Its funny you say you will ALWAYS have good running spots cause the. OWNERS don't allow hunting but I can't tell u how many properties I have. Lost because of owners. Dieing or moving so keep thinking you will always have a place to run and you will be out of rabbits before you know it!

You are so correct John and that's why my cousin and I both belong to a hunting lease. The properties we used to hunt on over our life times have either been sold, posted, leveled or houses built on them. Used to try to hunt the state property but never had much luck. I guess the pressure from everyobne else having to hunt it too due to them also loosing their old spots has lowered the numbers there as well. Now we run on the mine property where there is NO hunting and man is that loaded with rabbits. There are times that it looks like a Wal-mart parking lot but guess what there are a ton of rabbits for all to run. Huh, Go figure!

Im pretty sure there ain't but maybe a few handfuls of people that live in a trailer park that even ruun or have rabbit dogs but anyways it was a good thought!!

I don`t usually gun untill the snow flys,but I am sure ready to get out there with some good friends on a nice crisp morning,and hear some dogs pounding,and a few gun roars.Maybe some fried rabbit afterwards,and of coarse a drink,and some b.s`n. No tailgates full here,just a great time had by all.Most importantly the hounds that have worked so hard all year for there treat.
