Im with you on this 1, We hunt multiple BIG property's and travel some and kill our share as well
some places will take you 3 days of hunting to cover the whole thing, I dont post pics of our kills on any forum/internet because of the bashing that I see
We have 3 shooters, a nice pack in our group and we bagged 403 last season and are seeing a lot in the spots we have been running dogs in this year
Not 1 of them get wasted either between me, Friends, Family and a few for the dogs as a reward they all get eaten, Good luck to you this year and shoot straight

NeilKimbrel7 wrote:Y'all need to quit hijacking harners thread. Last time I checked the coal mines weren't hurting for rabbits. Plus half the time we hunt private land anyways. We don't kill 25-30 a day either so I'd appreciate it if you'd quit lieing. People travel to the UP to hunt hare. They come down south to kill swampers. I've got friends that go to Colorado and bow hunt elk. You have to go where the game is. There is no cottontail running in the world like the coal mines. Y'all should feel lucky, and not act like you own everything. I run 200+ days a year, if I wanna hunt a couple weeks I feel like I've paid my dues.
Neil I have no problem with anyone that kills that many and have no problem with y'all. That hunt down there, but maybe you need to take a look under Busters stud. Add about 3/4 of the way down and count how many rabbits are in that pic!! I have no beef with Buster as I like and his owner alot and have ran alot with both but the proff is in the pudding! I don't knoww why im even in this conversation maybe im just feeling fiesty today!!

Folks can talk all they want but I've been following these little rabbit hounds every since I was old enough to keep up with my dad. There were times that I went and wasn't allowed to even carry a gun but that was part of the learning process. Our family hunted back then to supplement the food being put on the table and I've seen many times that my dad, three of his brothers and three sons all went together on some pretty big stripper hills that were loaded with bunnies. We probably only hunted a spot such as that a couple times a year as there used to be numerous other private property places we could hunt. BUT how many other groups of folks do you suppose were pounding that same spot? I know several as there were times that we arrived only to find SEVERAL others hunting it. After we stopped hunting that one specific spot I went back with my great uncle just to run dogs and we hunted nearly all day to get one lousey run and that was several years later. I've witnessed this happen on more than one property and not only with the bunny populations but other game as well. Anyone ever think of the numbers of game that are poached and or taken in excess of the legal bag limit? One other provision of the Indiana hunting regulations is how this issue is stated under bag and possession limits where it states, "it is illegal to POSSESS, ship, carry or transport more than two times the daily bag limit of a wild animal after the beginning of the second day of the season established to take that animal. It is illegal to take more than the daily bag limit of a wild animal in a calendar day." This doesn't mean that you can go in the am and kill your limit and then go eat lunch and go back to the filed and take another limit. Anyone ever think that the number of rabbits in your freezer is wild game in your possession? I'll guarantee you that it does when it comes to deer and therefore the same would apply to any other wild game animal. The slaughter plant that I inspect processes hundreds of deer every year and the game wardens are in and out of there like flies which brings up these normally undiscussed topics as they are there looking for violations of the game laws as well as gathering info to prosecute poachers, sampling for deer ticks and looking for signs of crinic wasting disease.

Ya we did kill 25....that day. It was not 25-30 everyday. It was not at one honey hole. If we did have 10 ppl that's and average of only 2.5 per person. Not everyone was hunting at the same time.

This has turned out to be one funny post! I saw Buster's ad, and have heard he is all rabbit dog! I hope to see him go this season. I find it so funny about how many people get bent out of shape over people killin rabbits. I wouldn't own a dog if I didn't want to go out and have fun with friends, pursue tons of game, and pile up rabbits, to reward the dogs that work ever so hard to please their owners. I pay 5 times the amount for out of state license that the residents of any state do, and I hunt LEGAL! Neil, maybe we should do a traveling tour of a bunch of states?? What do you think?? I am gonna change my license plate when I travel so I don't get my tires flattened on the coal roads

Like a good friend once said, "Some get it, some will eventually get it, and most don't even have a clue" :baby:

Shot I don't try to cut it off but don't get me wrong I like rabbit as mmuch as anyone. But. Sorry im happy with 10 a season!! Anyways y'all have fun and keep the shell companies in business!! Jmho

Been doin some thinkin and it seems that most of the guys on here saying its ok to kill a tail gate full every weekend are not from here.So i have a question do you practice this same type of killing back in home in your spots where you go running after work one day or what ever i bet not.I know of one guy north of me that comes here every weekend and kills a bunch but never kills any back where he lives and i wonder why that is

Where I run dogs in southern Mi I very seldom shoot a rabbit, just not the numbers they used to be. When I was younger the fun of hunting used to be the kill, whether it was rabbits, deer what ever. As I've gotten older the fun behind huntin has nothing at all to do with how many I kill, it all is how the dogs preform. With that said I have no problem with anybody taking there bag limit of any game. Just not part of the fun for me.
