WHERE DID THEY GO
Where did the bunny slayers go hadnt seen some on the board since rabbit saeson closed guess summer time separates the rabbit hunters from the rabbit slayers
Nah i dont get out in them ticks and chiggers much this time of the year eaither LOL and it has been over 100 here for the past 10 days

Re: WHERE DID THEY GO
Me and my son took the dogs out a couple of weeks ago. We came back with about 30 chigger bites a piece. Learned our lesson the hard way. I forgot how bad chigger bites itch. Now we put a nice layer of OFF Deep Woods bug spray on before we go.

Re: WHERE DID THEY GO
I would say the rabbit slayers are still on here. The reason we cant post as many pictures and video is because it is so thick and have had a couple complaints because people cant see the dogs work because of thick cover. I cant speak for everyone but i kill about 100+ rabbits a year and i still run dogs just for fun during spring and summer no matter what the tempature is. I just came back from running my 5 year old and a pup for 3 hours and its above 80 degrees here with only a sprinkle of rain in the past few weeks.

Put clear nail polish over your chigger bites. Works better than anything I've tried.

Re: WHERE DID THEY GO
I bought a pair of hunting pants from LLBean that has what he calls a chigger sock. It is a thin piece of cloth inside the bottom hem that just goes into your boot and makes it impossible for anything to climb up your leg. The pants themselves are cordura. I put deet over my arms and face to keep unwanted little animals away.

Re: WHERE DID THEY GO
Im just like you i dont mind just listening to dogs but i have had a couple of different people say that its pointless to video cause you cant see the dog or rabbit. I will still post videos for those that cant get out and run dogs. I dont have a problem with snakes or chiggers so its alot easier for me to run all year. The only thing i have to deal with is the heat.rabbitsmoker wrote:Im not one of those that complain cause i cant see them i like to hear them just about as much Where i hunt you cant really see them in the winter you really cant in spring and summer but im on hold right now because i dont have anywhere else for a stinkin CHIGGER to bite me i look like i have the chicken pocs and cant keep from scratchin take a bath every nite in clorox and used 2 bottles of camphopnique

Re: WHERE DID THEY GO
Rabbitsmoker,
Quiet season means no dog training from April 15 - July 7th. I guess they do not want the game stressed out during the nesting season, breeding, and raising young ones. I have a spot I can go but only go enough to keep most of the rust off the dogs. Now that we can run legal it has been too hot for me and my dogs. When we get a cool spell I will go, but I won't push it until closer to hunting season. Then its time to get them in shape for weekends up north and Drummond Island.
I editied to add the wording from the Fishing and Hunting Guide.
"You may train dogs on wild animals only from July 8 through April 15. Exception: Michigan residents may train dogs on fox on state lands in Zone 3 under special permit. See the 2010 Michigan Bear Hunting Digest for dog/bear training restrictions."
Good Luck Runnin Hard, We will look forward to those videos. I enjoyed watching the last one.
